If you spit a gum in the streets of Singapore immediately there will be a fine imposed on you ...
Here in the Philippines, even you spit in front of a policeman they would not care ...
In Singapore, there are no jeepneys there are no tricycles there are no TE's ....
So if you're expecting Philippines to be like Singapore, you shouldn't because it will not happen.

April 16th, 2010 11:13 AM #93well, FVR solved the power crisis way back before.... and with 10 yrs of GMA, hindi niya na-prevent ito considering the fact that this was foreseen 5 to 7 years ago. So would that mean mas mahinang presidente si GMA kesa kay tabako (FVR)?

FVR solved the power shortage problem but at very high cost
our high electricilty bills are partly attributed to the IPP contracts FVR entered into
if Cory Aquino addressed the power shortage during her term, FVR wouldnt have gotten into those oppressive contracts
but Cory was too preoccupied with revenge (on the Marcoses & cronies) and survival of her fragile govt (how many coups during her term?)
during GMA's term naman, she was also too preoccupied (enumerate niyo nalang what she was preoccupied with hehe)
eventhough everyone saw the power shortage problem coming, nobody had the will to deal with it
it's so typical of pinoys
bahala na
deal with problems as problems arise
so eto na ang problema
aayusin nalang

April 17th, 2010 12:42 PM #95cant blame FVR. We really need power that time and if we want to be competitive to attract investors, we should have a steady supply of electricity.
Well GMA is just full of hot air..... she's just too busy indulging herself with government funds and too busy praising herself for things that she didnt even have a hand in the first place.

yep, desperate times call for desperate action
the IPPs knew FVR needed to fix the power supply problem badly
the IPPs took advantage of the situation
well, that's business

GMA was too busy holding on to power
she couldnt focus on anything else

Yep. Central planning is needed to address power needs. Renewable energy na nga ang anthem sa ibang bansa.
Sa Mindanao 4-5 hours ang rotating brownouts. Damn.

Luzon palang they failed to address the power supply problem

i just had a fun talk with a friend
sabi niya gusto na niya tumira sa Canada
ayaw na daw niya dito sa Pinas
sobra init, brownout, etc
he asked me kung naisip ko tumira sa abroad
sabi ko hindi
i told him this --- wanna know how to live in a developing country?
LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS
don't expect to have 24/7 power, don't expect to have clean, strong water everytime you turn on the faucet, don't expect the traffic lights to always be working, do expect motorists to always follow traffic rules
just don't expect things to work the way they're suppose to work
if things don't work, just say to yourself -- wala eh, developing country eh
that way, if things turn out to be better than you expect, you'll be pleasantly surprised!
one whole day na walang brownout?
amazing!
drivers stop at the red light?
amazing!
hehe
