April 22nd, 2003 08:49 PM #17Cheap fare to Boracay, anyone?
This is good news for vacationing students or even for ordinary tourists. For less than R800 they can take a roll-on, roll-off (RORO) trip to Panay’s Boracay Island, famous world over for its white beaches and crystal-clear water.
At a price of only R740 students (or even ordinary tourists) can take a (Bachelor Express) bus ride (2-way ticket) from its Ali Mall Terminal in Cubao that leaves at 11 nightly en route to Batangas City Port where a ferry boat awaits them.
Aklan Gov. Florencio T. Miraflores said the new transportation service makes it convenient for tourists to reach his province where Boracay island is located. The new service offers a cheaper fare even to that of the economy class ferry ticket price of roughly R1,000 per head not to mention the land transportation expenses for going to the pier. It also cuts travel time to 14 hours instead of the regular 17-22 hours.
Aside from the opportunity to enjoy the panoramic sight along the way, tourists will also experience the thrill of island-hopping as the ferry docks in Calapan, Mindoro then Roxas City. They will then be transferred via RORO ferry boat to the newly-opened Caticlan Jetty Port and Terminal.
Those who wish to bring their vehicles to Caticlan will be charged a minimal fee of R1,495 for car; R1,938 for van; and R5,927 for a ten-wheeler truck/bus. First two passengers of any of the above vehicles get free tickets. The newly-opened Caticlan Jetty Port and Terminal is spacious and well-secured.

April 24th, 2003 05:09 PM #18May NPA kaya along the way from Calapan to Roxas?
You cant really watch over your car while in Boracay - magbayad na lang.
