wolfgang!!! kaso disbanded na...
i would say Lokomotiv...(im listening to it right now)
mga dating wolfgang at razorback... kaso may halong kano... and kakaalis lang ni basti sa band...![]()
and ofcourse Queso!!! representative ng pinas sa world battle of the bands...
Wolfgang was great... but they lacked that last little something to make it really big in the US. Electric riffs, terrific technical skill (those timing changes and jazz-like touches on songs like "Roadworthy Man" were exceptional) and some memorable songs... but they never really hit the big-time internationally.
Not anything against Wolfgang, but what's good for the Philippines isn't always good elsewhere.
I saw a lot of great bands with technical skill and good songwriting during my college years, and I have a number of CDs stashed away here and there. The thing is, we have a market that's too small to support them, so they eventually dissolve when the band members don't feel like supporting the band with the hard-earned money they've earned elsewhere.
When I see bands doing ads in the US, I think "sell-out"... here? I just shrug and say: "Survival, baby...".
We have lots of rocking bands. And when a band dissolves because of personal, financial, family, creative issues, etcetera... those guys are still around. I've seen Carl Roy (singer, P.O.T.) around, doing stuff with Nathan Azarcon (original bassist, Rivermaya)... that was before Nathan jumped back on with Bamboo when he came back...
We have lots of rocking bands around... but many don't last long. But rest assured, the rockers are still there... you just have to find them.![]()
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
actually wolfgang fan ako since they started out playing dyan sa club dredd (college pa ko nun...). yes they are disbanded already, but i heard that they will be coming with a new album and a reunion concert.... and yes, their original drummer is not already with them. di na ata matagpuan eh.
the dawn is also one of my top pinoy rock bands.... walang kakupas kupas.
to keep up with the topic. among the world class bands nowadays are:
a) cueshe
b) south border (pero hindi sya rock...) and
c) bamboo.
shiela and the insects, rivermaya, bamboo, updharmadown, and drip (medyo ambigous lang classification ng last two)![]()
pero kung patawa lang talaga, nothing more nothing less, i'd have to say parokya![]()
Sarap panoorin ng Parokya sa Mayrics kung inuman o katuwaan lang. True, they may not always do it perfectly, but they're a fun bunch of guys...
Man... Wolfgang, those were the days... nung nandyan pa yung mga bars sa ATC na may live music. Imagine walking in the door and you're standing right beside Wulf banging away on his drums... fun times.
Hehe... The Dawn... talagang world-class ang mga instrumental licks nila nung time na yun.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
ako din, gusto ko ang sheila and the insects, galing nila, parang foreign singer ang boses ni orven.. ayus din yung updharma down, hndi mo alam kung anong genre nila.. and also agree with drip.. lamig ng boses ni beng..
i like wolfgang, especially yung album nilang "acoustica" sa music museum.. jamming tlga..
