a took off from the shooting incident thread...

how do you avoid road rage? admittedly minsan and lately napapadalas na rin ang road rage ko, because of those stupid PUV drivers....

---totally stop driving (hire a driver)
---minimized your time, out in the street or behind the wheel
---take public transpo..(mahirap especially now that it's always raining)
---closed your eyes while driving (not recommended)

so can you share your secret to prevent or at least minimized road rage...

^^^ Mahirap bro, especially if you're pre-disposed to having a bad temper. You react instinctively, hindi ka na nag-iisip. It's a macho thing.

But there are times na umiiling na lang ako and silently count to ten pag may nang-atraso sa daan. Hopefully, I can keep it up.

kung iisipin mo mahirap talaga magpigil ng temper lalo na if you a have a conviction to follow traffice rules. yung bang pipila ka sa traffic tapos biglang may sisingit at mauuna sayo.

ako recently lang muntik na akong makipag away sa taxi driver na mahilig sumingit at manglaman sa daan. andami kong binitawan na masasakit na salita sa driver na yung buti hindi niya ako pinatulan kung nagkataon bogbog sarado ako, malaking tao kasi but the funny thing is hindi ako ang offended driver, pasahero niya ako that time

i agree. it's hard to keep a cool head when you're always following the rules and then someone blatantly breaks it in front of you.

i think the most vulnerable to road rage are the persons that are diciplined in driving. i usually drive slow dahil sa condition ng road and also bec i dont want to be stressed driving fast. Unfortunately some motorist dont understand that. I noticed that most of the drivers here in the metro are too agressive. What happen to drive defensively?

if i can only afford a driver... hehe

hmm... mukang nag-improve ka sir *galactus. keep it up

idealism, disciplinarian, by the book, strict obedience, perfectionism, ... these are the sort of things that can make a man mad.

Yup, that's true.

I understand sir Galactus re the disciplined driver more prone to road rage...

Nakaka inis talaga pag meron tao who dont obey the same rules u obey

    For me, it's about acceptance.

    Ganito talaga sa Pinas e.

Many pinoys either dont know the rules or simply refuse to follow the formal rules. Keep in mind that most drivers here do not have formal driving education.

We may have a set of LTO traffic rules but many pinoy drivers operate on a different set of unwritten traffic "rules" that one usually gets (or learns) from driving around in Manila long enough

So i just accept the way things are... i cant change the way other people drive.

I would just stress myself out by getting mad at every undisciplined driver out there.

Ako, as soon as I enter the car, I pray.

I simply ignore those drivers and pedestrians that is displaying stupidy on the road. Iwas lang ako.

I also leave early para hindi ako nagmamadali sa byahe at para kahit masingitan ako, ok lang. (shempre hindi ako pumupwesto sa fast lane)

    Pag uwi ako, pray ulit.

So far hindi pa naman uminit ulo ko sa kalsada since 1994.

I pray before driving ng malayo sa init ng ulo.
I put on my favorite cd.
I do not make eye contact.

If I was to live there, I'd take public transportation. I might have to plan accordingly like getting up early so I can get to where I want to go on time.

Having my own vehicle is fine. But, sometimes the hassle of bumper to bumper traffic, having to find a parking spot, and dealing with short-tempered drivers can be too aggravating.

Being a huge and crowded city, I know there's a lot of drivers in Metro Manila
who are on the brink. Everytime we visited, we've witnessed at least one case of road rage. None went beyond the finger-pointing, nasty-stares, and shouting stage. But, I got the feeling they're not far from blowing their fuse.

That's why I never want to live in a city. The crowdiness makes everyone grumpy and short-tempered.

What other people are saying here about disciplined drivers is true. To minimize road rage, we have to remove from ourselves the burden of educating or "punishing" these people who "did us wrong". If you want to be an a*hole on the road, knock yourself out, I don't give a sh*t, hindi naman ako tatay mo. Or nanay mo for that matter.

If we try to get even with them by playing tag or some other game of pikunan, even if we get the better of them, do you think they'll change? Later or tomorrow, they'll be back to their old ways, so was what you did worth it?

I always enjoy my driving by seaching some good looking chicks around the side walk , inside the jeep , or the cars beside me. Pag lagi maganda nakikita ko. maganda na rin araw ko.And i always blowing the horn to let go my temper. (Blowing horn at the puv cutting me at the front and stop to wait for passenger. )
