Before buying a carseat, check niyo muna sa NHTSA at baka recalled yung model na bibilhin niyo o kaya hindi approved.

pwede naman yung bata sa harap (although the best place is the back seat, minsan kasi impractical e), kaya lang, dapat properly restrained with the appropriate equipment. siguro ang absolute exception lang ay infant seats in an airbag-equipped vehicle. safe ba yung standard-power airbags for properly restrained children in the front passenger seat?

Thanks kimps and boybi! check ko pagbaba ko diyan sa manila. may bagong standard ngayon ang restraint systems para sa mga cars sa US,. It's called LATCH (Lower Anchorages and Tethers for Children) It allows the installation of car seats without using the car seatbelts. The seat is installed via bars that are factory built in the vehicle seats. These bars are installed in all vehicles that were manufactured after September 2002 (US lang ata)

ya, it's really dangerous if the kid isn't secured in the car... yung niece ko ever since she was young we taught her that seat belts are important and stuff... Nowadays (she's 5 now) she always buckle up and stays at the back... if you have a kid at the rear tapos wala kang child seat, iatras nyo sagad yung passenger seat para in case nag sudden brake, di malakas ang impact ng bata...

I've been eyeing for a recaro car seat but the price is quite absurd, hehe, especially if you have to get a bigger one as the kid grows :P

safe ba na sa front passenger seat umuupo yung wife ko habang kalong niya yung baby namin? naka-seatbelt naman kasi sila at ganito kami lagi pag umaalis. Or maybe sa likod dapat sila umupo?

    sauman,

hindi advisable yan. hindi designed yung seat belt para sa dalawang tao, and the crushing force of the belt in case of an emergency could break the bones of the child (magaan kasi yung bata) kung naka seat belt silang dalawa at yung bata yung nasa harap. at baka mabitawan yung bata in an emergency, tatama yung bata sa dashboard.

at kung may airbag yung sasakyan, malamang magiging masyadong malapit yung airbag sa ulo ng bata. malakas yung inflation force ng airbag, enough to dislocate an arm i think hehe

15% of the collision accidents that are fatal are cause by passengers not wearing seatbelts inside the car even if driver is already wearing seatbelts.

The passengers are throw directly to the windshield or to the driver itself sustaining fatal injuiries.

So even if a kid at the back seat not wearing seatbelt could cause fatal accident during a collision

If you are in the front seat and belted and you have unbelted passengers in the back. You can be crushed and killed by your unbelted rear passengers as they fly forward in a crash.
