August 27th, 2016 05:23 PM #322^ i definitely respect the guys who've spent a lifetime in their chosen profession/company, but i also envy the guys who can juggle one or two "sidelines" while still putting out good work in the office. If they suddenly get the pink slip tomorrow, kahit papano me alternate sources of income, be it from skills, passive investments, part time business, etc.

To a certain degree, i agree with you dear bro.
In retrospect, and in my limited experience, jumping from one company to another (because of better opportunities) may be beneficial for a person in the long run.
The person gets to meet a lot of people of various disciplines and socio economic status, gets exposed to different cultures and becomes more flexible and forgiving.
So, when the time comes when he/she needs some help for whatever undertaking whether another job or his own initiative, he has a relatively larger pool of people who can help him....
Just my thought...

August 28th, 2016 10:53 AM #328About a year ago, we bought this supposedly "heavy duty" stick mixer, and it worked well up to this morning -- one of the buttons sunk down and wouldn't pulse anymore.
i opened it up:
The button assembly is basically made of cheap plastic, which is not meant to flex. It's only a matter of time before the other button also gives. It doesn't take an engineer to know this is poor/crappy design.
Quite disappointing, since i encouraged my mother to buy the supposedly better brand, thinking it would last longer. While it's being used almost daily, it's only being used a few minutes at a time
i think the warranty just lapsed last month We'll be sticking with the older brands from this point on.

Present.
Never stayed longer than 3 years in a company I used to worked for.
12 years in the corporate world. 8 companies. 4 industries. 4 of those companies, hatak ako ng mga former colleagues ko sa industriya.
When i started my own little raket, those people i know were the first clients of mine, and their friends and colleagues.
I remain in touch with 90% of those people, from the big bosses to drivers, not to mention the secretaries, which is the most reliable source of information
