UV filter katapat nyan, P8500 sa bioresearch yung pinakamaliit na model (sa bioresearch SM North basement meron sila). expensive pero crystal clear naman ang water ng pond mo and di mo need magpalit ng water very often. mahal din ang replacement lamp ng UV filter (special UV-C lamp kasi, not manufactured locally).

meron nga pala ako DIY (read: home made) na UV-C filter sa bahay, gamit ko nuon sa water sa kitchen. pwede ko ibigay sa iyo drawing. or you can buy from me the filter ehehehehe!
simple lang gawin yun, 2 inch pvc pipe, some fittings, silicon sealant and syempre the UV-C lamp and ballast. lahat available locally except for the lamp. cost for the pipes, fittings and ballast will be around P700, the lamp I don't know kasi wala nga locally. sa internet meron ka makikita na UV-C lamps, nasa $30 ang isa. search mo lang, "UV-C lamp".

you should have a pump filter that correspond to the the size of your pond, aside a monthly maintenance/change of water.
you should also have:
1. Aquarium water Conditioner. this removes harmful chorine if you are using pipe water, it neutralizes chloramine, creates lear water, buffers the PH, help fish to resist stress, and detoxifies heavy metals.
2. Methylene Blue. this controls ich, fin & tail rot, body mouth & egg fungus.
This are all available at Bio Research

you should have two separate pump. ung first pump para umakyat ung 2big sa top of the falls can be shut off depende kung kailangan mo gustong makaroon ng falls flowing. Ung second pump/filter usually combined with aerator should be on 24 hrs.
you should also have a drain outlet that can be shut-off para madaling magpalit ng tubig.

October 12th, 2006 03:45 PM #19some plecos tend to attack your fish instead of the algae. and they seem to breed like crazy.
i think part of the component for algal bloom is water quality; pag madumi(i.e. madami nutrients) mas mabilis lumago. so i guess filtration would be your best bet.
i think some people use zeolite/pumice for filtration, pero ung cons daw dito is that it tends to absorb other nutrients(that fish and plants may need) aside from the waste. pero in your case, baka pwede siya
