If you're worried about delicate clothes, you can put them in a pillowcase.

We had a similar Hotpoint top load which lasted over 20 years. It ultimately died when the bearing of the basin suddenly gave up and the top cover hinge rusted over. According to the people in our suking laundrymat, there are people who could still actually fix it. But we were moving house so we just left it and bought a new one. On the other hand our Samsung Fuzzy Logic machine completely died in less than 5 years, and Samsung service never showed up to even look at it.

We replaced it with a Speed Queen 3 years ago, and it works every day like a champ.
