    He-he! Ewan....kayo na humusga.

Filipino worker sacked in Australia for toilet habits: report

A Filipino machine operator was reportedly sacked by an engineering firm in Australia allegedly for his toilet habits.

A Townsville Bulletin report posted on news.com.au said Amador Bernabe, 43, a Filipino machine operator was kicked out of his job by the Townsville Engineering Industries (TEI) for using water, instead of toilet paper, to clean himself during toilet visits.

The report said that according to Bernabe, he was sacked last week after his foreman saw him carry a bottle of water into the company’s comfort room.

The foreman allegedly told Bernabe that it was prohibited to bring water into the toilet. Bernabe told the foreman that "It's my personal hygiene. I didn't break any law. I didn't break any rules of the company."

The Filipino alleged that the foreman threatened to tell the management about his toilet habits.

Bernabe said the manager confronted him about the incident and was told to "follow the Australian way" of using the toilet or he will be terminated.

Byron Carter, TEI's company manager, confirmed that Bernabe was terminated for his toilet habits because it poses "a serious health risk."

Carter said other company employees had been complaining about Bernabe's unhygienic way of using the toilet. He said the Filipino had also been warned and advised several times before he was sacked from his job.

"Mr Bernabe's technique to cleanse himself with water after his toiletry visits leaves the toilet cubical splashed with water suspected to be contaminated with feces and wet soggy toilet paper lying on the floor," the company manager said in the report.

Rick Finch of the Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union, meanwhile, said in the report that the engineering firm's actions were "atrocious" and an "invasion of a person's rights and cultural beliefs."

"If it wasn't so disgusting it would almost be laughable," Finch said.

Isn't using water more hygienic than just toilet paper?

the point in using toilet paper is to prevent the spread of germs

when people use their bare hands (and water) to wipe, and they don't wash their hands properly after, they can spread germs (like hepatitis, cholera, etc) when they touch things like doorknobs and stuff

would you shake hands with someone who just used their hands to wipe their poo?

    Skid marks! Hahaha :laughbounce:

it's the use of the hand

it's the touching of the bare hands on the poo that's the issue

not exactly the use of water

and it's not about the water being kalat all over the toilet

the concern is the hands touching poo then touching everything else like door handles and light switches and keyboards and everything else other people also touch

    spread of disease

    that's the concern

    ok?

Yeah. That's better than shaking hands with someone who used just toilet paper. I'm sure if a person if hygienic enough to use water, he or she would wash his or hands with soap and water.

Why does he have to do it in the office pala? Sana sa bahay na lang.

When you have to "go" ..... you just have to go.

Like in NASA, the No.2 is their number one priority.

ang baboy nga ng ginawa niya. makalat. kung pinupunasan sana nya yung kalat na tubig e di sana hindi na masyadong malaki ang issue. masasabi na lang nya nag sasabon naman sya. hehe

e bakit nauso yung built in washers (usually hose with sprayer) sa mga toilets kung hindi pala hygenic-ally advisable? example yung sa greenbelt, serendra and other high end establishments and homes.

Agree ako kay Cathy. Kasi kung ginamit mo yung bare hands mo sa paghugas, automatic yan magsasabon ka ng mga kamay after that.

Siguro walang janitor yung opis, kaya wala naglilinis sa toilet.

why does everyone assume na naghuhugas ng mabuti ng kamay ang mga tao after sila maglinis ng pw3t?

not everyone is as hygiene conscious

So you guys assume that people from squatters area are as hygenic as you?

    think beyond yourselves dudes

Agree with GH. Unlike ladies who have second thoughts of doing their stuff other than their territory, for men, when you have to "go", you just have to go....

Yun naman pala eh! Nakakainis nga yung ganyan. Imagine yourself really needing to take a dump. When you enter the cubicle, you see the toilet seat all wet and the floor covered in water puddles. Madaming ganyan sa office namin...nakakairita. Before I can 'relieve' myself, I have to get a big wad of paper towels to wipe down the toilet seat and the floor.

here's another example of pinoy culture clashing with western culture

remember the filipino kid in Canada who was reprimanded for eating with spoon and fork?

Filipino boy's discrimination case ruled out by rights commission

    abs-cbnNEWS.com | 10/03/2008 9:22 PM

A Filipino boy who was allegedly discriminated in school for of his eating etiquette will appeal his complaint before a rights tribunal in Montreal, Canada.

This, after the Quebec Human Rights Commission found no evidence that then seven-year-old Luc Cagadoc was reprimanded or discriminated by school officials for eating with the a spoon and fork.

ABS-CBN North America News Bureau reported that the commission also ruled that the school's principal did not discriminate the boy when told to eat the way Canadians eat.

In 2006, Cagadoc’s family complained against the school board alleging that the boy was humiliated and reprimanded by the lunch supervisor for eating with a spoon and fork.

The boy was allegedly told that he eats like a pig, which sparked Filipino protests around the world.

The decision of the commission dismayed Cagadoc’s family.

Cagadoc’s mother, Maria Teresa Gallardo said they will appeal their complaint before the Quebec Human Rights Tribunal.

The family also wants to receive public apology and moral damages from the school.

Canada’s human rights body divided over spoon-eating by Filipino boy

CHICAGO, Illinois - In the gastronomic equivalent of the saying “when in Rome, do as the Romans do," the Quebec Human Rights Commission in the city of Montreal has ruled that the teacher identified only as “M.B." discriminated against and violated the human right of a seven-year-old Filipino boy by disciplining him for eating with fork and spoon at the same time.

The Commission, however, found no evidence that Luc Joachim Gallardo-Cagadoc, who was then a Grade 2 student, was reprimanded by the teacher because of his cultural habit. Luc is now 10 years old.

This bit of information was relayed to this reporter by the mother of Luc, Maria Theresa Gallardo-Cagadoc, who plans to appeal the ruling before Quebec Human Rights Tribunal because she felt a sense of “deep disappointment, frustration, dismay and disbelief" over the decision.
