Tsikot.com launches party-list bid for Congress
    Otep Rivera is primary representative
    Article by : MBT

Quezon City – Tsikot.com, the largest online Pinoy auto community, launched today its bid for a party-list seat in Congress. Mr. Otep Rivera, tsikot.com’s primary representative and resident love advisor, hosted the group’s launch party with a unusual meal of Choc-Nut and cheeseburgers at his Tierra Pura, Quezon City fortress. “Paborito ko kasi itong Choc-Nut e, it never fails to make the ladies swoon. Yung cheeseburgers, well, trademark ko na rin iyan ser,” explained the 25-year old Otep.

tsikot.com was launched in October 2002 as the brainchild of Doc Noel of Netph.com and Otep. “Nagkakilala kami ni Doc Noel sa USTe (University of Santo Tomas). Second-year med student ako at that time, and Doc Noel was a professor with the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery,” according to Otep. “At that time, Doc Noel was putting up a new venture in internet hosting, Netph.com. Gusto nilang magtayo ng mga iba’t ibang internet forums that cater to specific interests.” Even then, Otep had already earned a reputation on campus as an automobile aficionado, aside of course, from his other, arguably well-deserved, reputation as the premier Thomasian ladies’ man. “Sabi nga ng mga prof ko sa akin, dapat nag mekaniko nalang ako, mas bagay daw ako manggamot ng sasakyan. Uunahin ko daw i-examine yung sasakyan nung pasyente kesa pasyente, hehehe…”

It was natural, then, for Doc Noel to approach Otep and enlist his help for the Pinoy automotive forums Netph.com planned to put up. Otep continued, “Nilapitan ako ni Doc Noel,… at syempre, alam mo naman tayong mga pogi, hindi makakatangging tumulong,” drawing guffaws from the other tsikot.com members at the party. “Uy, joke lang iyon ser ha hehehe,” Otep added.

And so, tsikot.com was formally launched on October 5, 2002, with Otep as one of the site’s administrators. The news about the new Pinoy automotive forums spread in the local automotive websites, and today, tsikot.com has become the largest and fastest-growing Pinoy automotive community. “It was like a magic!,” exclaimed the evergreen tsikot.com administrator with a crazy look on his face.

Currently, Otep is the top-ranked poster on tsikot.com, with a total post count of almost 9,000. He has been the top-ranked poster ever since the site was launched. Some have wondered if that means Otep is truly dedicated to the site, or if he has nothing better to do with his life than post at the boards. But Otep explained: “tsikot has truly changed my life. I’ve made many new friends through tsikot. Napamahal na ako dito. Kahit sa USTe di ako makatiis na bumisita sa boards. Kahit sa banyo magtsitsikot ako, kaso wala akong laptop e.”

Some however, have contested Otep’s post count. According to Ungas, who is currently the second-ranked poster behind Otep, “Hindi talaga ako makahabol kay Otep. Sa tingin ko dinadaya ni Otep yung post count niya e, para bang pag-atras ng odometer. Biruin mo, ako naka-DSL sa bahay, tapos siya reklamo ng reklamo na kay bagal-bagal ng dial-up niya… pero todo ariba pa rin yung post count niya! Administrator siya, baka ineedit niya yung post count niya hehehe.”

However, Otep dismisses the charges. “Wala akong alam diyan sa mga computer at programming. Paano ko maeedit iyang post count ko? E ni mag delete o move ng threads sa board hirap na hirap na ako. Alam mo namang may technophobia ako. Tingnan mo, kahit nga yung sasakyan kong Pajero, napaka low-tech ng makina, 4D56. Ni walang kahit anong computer o electronic controls. But I love my 4D56 still.”

Nevertheless, Ungas remains a true fan of Otep even though he can never seem to overtake Otep in the member rankings. “Ampugeeeee!,” exclaimed Ungas.

According to Otep, tsikot.com seeks to be a barkada of Pinoy auto enthusiasts helping each other and serving the Pinoy motoring community. “Kasama na riyan yung advice tungkol sa sasakyan, tungkol sa responsableng pagmamaneho. But ultimately, tsikot.com is not about the vehicles, but about the people.”

If elected to Congress, Congressman Otep Rivera promises free Mobil Delvac 1 to all tsikot.com members. He would also push for a nationwide mandatory speed limit of 60 kph, which incidentally, is the top speed of his 1996 Mitsubishi Pajero. “At downhill na yun ha!,” laments Otep.

“Kaya tsikot.com for party list sa Mayo, si Congressman Otep Rivera po ito sa inyong lingkod.”
