You'll note that some of the disputed passages are also in the Gospel, not just in the Old Testament and Revelations.
After having grown up and learned of the history of the world and of world religions (avid reader here), I've often wondered at how fanatical people can be about the veracity of the Bible given that it comes from many different sources and many different times. The OT and NT are obviously from two different religions, with the blood and thunder Yahweh of old becoming the merciful and forgiving God as preached by Jesus Christ. The OT God was a xenophobe, urging his people to war on Palestinians, sacking their cities and claiming their lands. The NT God, through Jesus, preached about the "Good Samaritan" and encouraged better relation with the Gentiles.
The Bible is not just one book. It is six dozen books written by different authors, at different times, with different aims and intent. It's really time for Christianity to sift through this morass of writing and rediscover the parts of the Bible that [b]actually pertain to being a Christian... a believer of Christ... and not just another fundamentalist hardliner... a species too common to Judaic religions (that includes Jewish and Muslim fundamentalists and traditionalists).
