Like you said, it's never too late to get back into shape. Your case should be a textbook example of how to turn things around.

Back in the 90's, I was still thinking of building up my muscles like you did (also coming out of a break-up). But then, I met the wife who preferred my average build.

I can still tell when someone is bulked up. It comes with being around people who do. One of my nephews in Reno is kinda like you: over six feet tall, he's taking physical training in college, and he started doing weights a while back. I noticed the change in his physique almost immediately.
