December 16th, 2013 11:29 PM #1You can no longer buy hammers inside shopping malls.
This after police and mall owners met on Monday and agreed that customers who will buy the tool will only be given a receipt, which they will have to use to claim the item outside mall premises.
The order comes following the Sunday night robbery in SM North EDSA.
Police said, based on CCTV footage, five to seven members of the so-called "Martilyo Gang" were part of the daring robbery.
President Aquino, along with Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Alan Purisima, Interior and Local Government Sec. Mar Roxas personally checked the situation in the Quezon City mall a few hours after the gang broke inside the department store and stole jewelry.
Police later met with mall owners and management to discuss security measures and the safety of shoppers, especially this holiday season.

Absolutely brilliant! Of course there are about a dozen more tools who can be bought from the malls and used to shatter glass displays.
Sounds like a solution only those dumb security detachment commanders can dream up.

it's as about as sensible as gun control.
I wouldn't be surprised if a crazed psycho decides to kill a bunch of unarmed people inside a mall or any "gun free" zone.
in reality, putting up "gun free" zones is like telling perps, hey! we're all unarmed here! we won't resist you if you do something evil. or removing the spines of a porcupine for lack of better analogy.Damn, son! Where'd you find this?
