Happened inside the department store. Don't think there's a jewelry store in open areas.

Do they display the really expensive ones there?

If sa department store nga, that's a serious lapse in security; siguradong tutunog yan sa metal detector, and the guards should have detected the wrench even with a cursory search...although i did notice that SM tends to put the jewelry department right in front of their main entrances -- makes it easy to rush in, do a smash ang grab. i doubt if they'd be that daring if the jewelry department were embedded deep inside the mall.

But if it's *not* inside the department store...mukhang mahirap nga i-secure yan. My guess is they got in via Seaside Boulevard -- very open, no security whatsoever -- then hit the jewelry store in the open area.

btw, anyone find it wrong that

-- the suspect was presented to media, like a hunting trophy?
-- the first responders were the policewomen(or at least, definitely not SWAT), but it was the SWAT presenting their "trophy"?
-- Noli de Castro on DZMM virtually interviewed the suspect, *on air* ? Have we not learned anything from the Quirino Grandstand mess? i have a bad feeling na gagawin tong bala ng defense

^^^ Don't think they display high end items inside SM Department Store which makes you wonder why it was targeted.

Like opening the trunk bago pumasok ng parking (as if alam nila hinahanap nila)

checking underneath of the car with their mirrors (ano nga kaya tinitingnan nila? Yung undercoating naten?)

The guards are more like paid witnesses here. The searches they conduct are useless. Sometime ago a friend put a small gun in his pocket and lined up to go in a mall. He got frisked but the guard never even noticed the gun which was just in his front pocket. Mind you, this was just something he wanted to try out. I can imagine how many others get to sneak in knives and other smaller weapons.

next time ipagbabawal na lahat ng bagay na ibenta made of steel.

wala pa akong security guard na nakita na competent. i always take notice of them when entering malls or lrt/mrt stations

    1. they do not look at the face of each person, diretso kapkap sila or check the bag
    2. persons in uniform hindi nila chinecheck, ive seen this numerous times
    3. mali frisking method nila

one time, i had a small box in my pocket, before approaching the guard, i took it out, just held it then raised my hands, the guard did not even looked at it but proceeded in frisking my pockets. lusot na yung small box ko, a terrorist could've put c4 in that box or a small gun and hindi nacheck ng guard
