just looking at it, closed, i think it is to make it easier to deploy, especially if with gloves.
...difficult to imagine, if one is thinking of the tropics.

Ah i meant Victorinox po specifically. They usually makes ones with the thumbnail notch ^_^

Thumbstuds seem more secure, but it does get in the way when slicing or sharpening. Flippers naman, parang masasagi sa pantalon, accidental deployment. Assisted opening...too clumsy for that. Thumbholes are the best compromise imho

Meron, if you're just after the knife yun sentinel solo lang bilhin mo, it doesn't come with other implements na Hinde Naman kailangan. Plus Meron na model na Meron pocket clip.

I'm starting to acquire Victorinox alox models and yun max 3 layers. Gusto ko yun maninipis na. Saka yun Meron scissor.

But I'm still more into Victorinox. I don't used it naman but I just like how they feel and look. In fact, I don't think I ever used it. I don't even bring it with me.

    An addiction maybe.

Royal blue rambler and green champ. Just arrived the other day.

Next the mini champ in alox and other alox models.

Bossing, are the transparent scales just as durable as the traditional plastic scales?

Does anyone have experience with 14500 batteries?

i dropped my Thorfire earlier, and the Olight 14500 battery won't charge anymore(the flashlight seems OK)...i suspect the circuitry may have been damaged by the (~2 foot) fall.

Ganun ba talaga ka sensitive yung 14500 protected batteries?

from experience, Olight "batteries" are crap. i've had Olight RCR123A that work for a few seconds then cut out they have crappy chinese cells inside

for 14500 size look for those w/ Sanyo japan cell. KeepPower or Evva. look for "cell made in japan" in the label

Just curious: i see a lot of neck knives that are single-edged and with non-symmetric handles(e.g. CRKT Folts Minimalist) ....from a purely tactical perspective, does it impede usage, i.e. grabbing it the wrong way?
