whats with the mentality na mas maganda future ng anak pag pumunta ng US or Canada? you make your future kahit nasaan ka...kahit dito lumaki yun mga anak mo eh, its up to them to carve out their own path..you can just give them opportunities and tools (education, if youre rich them money) then sila na bahala kung ano gusto nila sa buhay nila...

Dito man or doon, matinik sa chicks yun. His family educated him and could provide for him wherever they were. I had friends who did well abroad and i had those who had to go back and rebuild here in Manila as they got hit by bad times abroad.

If you're happy with your life here, then just work to provide for your kids with their education and more importantly, guidance as they grow. Whether they grow up here or there, it's really the job of the family to make sure they get the tools they need to survive in this world and are able to pass it on their children as well later on. Yes our government, our politicians and their wannabee children suck but heck, we still find ways to work around it right?

another dilemma is if we migrated then we will start all over again.. no choice but kailangan kainin ang pride pagdating U.S. kahit siguro anong trabaho papasukin just to survive the first year..

ako isa mga reason ko ito bakit ko ayaw umalis dito. engineer ako dito tapos pag dating ko doon bagger lang ako? unless same or better line of work and higher standard of living (relative sa US) nde talaga ako aalis.

Isa pa, kahit sobrang init dito pag summer mas gusto ko pa rin weather dito sa atin. Dati nung bata pa ako gustong-gusto ko ng snow. Pero nung na-assign ako sa Japan 3 years ago for 18 months at naranasan ko ang winter nila (nde pa sub-zero dun pag winter), putek ayaw ko na ng snow!

snow masaya lang sa 1st 15 minutes. o 1 hour pag talagang sabik na sabik ka. pero pag naninigas na yung taenga mo sa lamig ewan ko na. pag ikaw na ang nagsho-shovel ng snow sa driveway sa umaga, kapag tuwing aalis ka sa umaga e magka-kaskas ka ng yelo sa windshield ng sasakyan mo ng treinta minutos bago ka makalarga, at pag ilang beses ka na nadulas sa driveway, at ilang beses ka na bumangga dahil 2wd lang ang kotse mo at wala kang pera pambili ng snow tyres, e isusumpa mo yang snow na yan!

thank you guys for your honest opinions... actually gumaganda ang pakiramdam pag nakakarinig ng "better stay here".. it's just that nagkaroon kasi ng chance na magkaroon ng green card kaya i'm seriously weighing the better options for the kids.. kung matino lang sana gobyerno natin I can easily give up that green card.... tama kayo the best gift that we can ever give to our children is education... plano sana namin grade school and high school ay duon muna sa states then balik na sa pinas pag college na.. mukhang mas ok mag stay na lang dito siguro.... 70K is just enough for us and my wife's income is our savings.. gumugulo kasi isip ko pag nagbibida na ang mga former colleagues na nag migrate.. just don't know how accurate their stories..

You should still have close families here to be able to do that to look after the kids....
A lot of them would not though because it is hot and humid, there are a lot of mosquitoes and cockroaches, and the perceived issue on peace and order.....they have to be familiar with the country..this meansregular visits.

May kahihiyan ang mga politiko sa US at may sense of nationalism. Dito sa atin halos lahat ng politiko gahaman sa pera at kapangyarihan. Kapit tuko sa pwesto kahit buko na siya na magnanakaw. May political dynasty pa. Si gma naman binenta Pinas sa China. Bihira pa sa puting uwak ang nationalistic politician sa atin, majority sa kanila ay nasa politics for very selfish and self serving reasons.

I need an honest opinion from you guys... I have a chance to migrate to the U.S. but since the economic situation and unemployment rate are not good I'm having a second thought kung tutuloy ako or hindi. Hindi naman sa nagmamayabang ako but I am making a net income of 70K a month (deducted na po ang income tax).. If you are in my shoes are you going to migrate to the U.S.? My wife works in the bank and we have 3 kids (in grade schoool). Would you think it is advisable to just stay here and live a simple life. Any information that you can share will be appreciated. Hindi kami kasi makapag decide. Salamat po.

zenon eh parang nagkamali ka yata ng forum ng pagtatanungan. Majority ng mga tao dito ay uber rich. Bakit 'kamo? Majority ng car-owners or self-proclaimed-car-owners ng latest SUV, high end sedans, sports cars, new cars, etc dito sa tsikot ay college students at mga guys na barely out of their teens. Isipin mo na lang na pagdating nila ng 40s eh nasa forum na sila ng Gulfstream. Try mo tumingin ng ibang opinion sa ibang sites.

Immigrant Visa. I think green card a few weeks after I arrive.

Last year pa yung letter ko from the National Visa Center pero dinelay ko ng delay :P Di ko inaasikaso yung mga requirements

Another reason I want to migrate to the US is to get a US Passport. Feeling ko kasi discriminated ang PH passport. At least with a US passport I can travel pretty much anywhere without the need to apply for a VISA. When I get my US passport after 5 years, I can go back to the PH again :P Pero parang ang tagal ng 5 years na pagtitiis para lang sa passport.
