But eco-bags (or reusable shopping bags) needs to be planned (and placed into your pocket) if you want to have them at hand.

kung no choice talaga supermarket always sells those eco bags naman eh or they sometimes give it for free if you spend X amount of money for certain products.

*qwerty, ganun talaga kasi nga you dont want to spend additional money for plastic, thats the idea at least...and ganyan din sa abroad meron bayad extra plastic bags.

I'm really affected actually kasi pag nag grocery meron naman cart and taga buhat diretso sa kotse.

you just provided the answer to your problem gh, plan! we always have at least 4 of those shopping bags in our cars. si misis also has one neatly folded in her hand bag.

and then there is always the carton box. waltermart, cherry and super8 provide them for free. SM wala, so we don't shop at SM hypermarket anymore unless it will all fit in the reusable bags.

    imho lang.
plastic bags are not bad... its the people who are using them who are.

paper bags would be sufficient, pero dapat yung parang lalagyan ng cement ang tibay. ang bilis mapunit eh...

what we need is to change the usage mindset.... at this rate, quite impossible to do....

    Agree with you bro.

    Just to share.

Wifey and myself do our grocery every Saturday.

We bring a big cooler box for our meat, fish and other "wet" purchases.

And we bring our re-usable bags for our other purchases,- requiring only 3-4 small paper bags for our "preferred items"....

    Model works for us....

    From the article...
Oregon study follows a 2010 paper by researchers at the University of Arizona and Loma Linda University that found large numbers of bacteria in reusable grocery bags, including 12 percent that were contaminated with E. coli,” Aleccia, “When scientists stored the bags in the trunks of cars for two hours, the number of bacteria jumped 10-fold.”
... so reusable shopping bags can increase your chances in getting sick.

So who here washes their reusable shopping bags?

Salcedo Market still uses plastic bags. I was told that it's biodegradable so Makati allows it. I wonder why department stores are not using this type plastic?

We use grocery plastic bags for our trash. Now we have to spend additional for trash bags :hammer:

    Funny thing sa robinson supermarket

they will ask you if you want to buy an eco bag or plastic or the free brown bag to pack your groceries

we always choose the plastic, then the bagger will start packing your stuff.

pinipilit nila pinagkakasya yun pinamili mo sa plastic.

ako naman ang request ko, wag niyo tipirin we don't mind paying hehe

pang basura kasi sa bahay kaya kelangan namin plastic bags from grocery.

kami rin. we use it for the trash at home. pero since bibihira na ang plastic, what we do now is we use paper bags for the dry trash, then plastic for the wet trash. usually plastic from the wet market gamit namin para sa trash.

I now had to resort to buying small trash bags as well just for the wastebaskets at home. Hindi rin masyado ma-reuse yung mga paper bags in our case, whether these be from the grocery or stores.

Exactly. It automatically becomes garbage once you get your groceries home. On the other hand, plastic bags may be re-used for other purposes.
