Methinks the skeeters are attracted to the heat and CO vehicles. In the case of large vans, some of which have only 2 windows that can be opened, the flow of air is insufficient to remove them from certain areas.

I was dreading entering the car the following day but at about 11 am I finally had to. To my surprise, they were all dead! Hundreds of them! Killed by simple heat.

Other than that, I might suggest spraying off in the car or some other environmentally friendly repellant/pesticide.
