MD Juan/Centro brainchild. I wonder why still insist side by side seating and no air conditioning. Side by side isn't safe... and tropical heat and pollution. Why insist on the mediocre standards of the jeepney?

IMO...
Government should ask DOST to design a Train, MRT, Bus and Jeep replacement...
Anyone here who knows what happened to the DOST Road Train?
MRT and Train must be built by accredited local manufacturers.
Bus and Jeepneys can be available as designs which 3rd party assemblers can use for free.
Kesa naman bili tayo ng bili from China and India... At least locally made sana para may trabaho mga Pinoy.
The Super Carry costs nearly 500k.
A tricycle costs about 150k if you get a good deal on the sidecar.
A Super Carry tuktuk could carry maybe six passengers. Nine if you simply build it into a mini-Jeepney.
A tricycle can carry five passengers in standard form. Six if you get the extended sidecar.
While a Super Carry will be more fuel efficient with a full load, you can earn more money off of three tricycles than one Super Carry. And you'd have to charge solo passengers much more money for a ride on the Super Carry than on a tricycle.

No brainer for operators. Not unless the government bans tricycles and gives tax incentives for running SC-based Jeepneys, they're not going to replace trikes.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
if government does not enforce it thru force of law and threat of financial penalty...
walang mangyayari.
what government should do, is to set the example. replace all government vehicles with these new designs! require our lawmakers to put their gluteuses where their mouths are!
+100 Doc.. Dito natin makikita na serious nga ang government natin sa issue na to.. Hope na may maginitiate na isang sangay ng government natin.

I agree... Masyadong mahal...
Nung nasa Jeep business din kami... Doble price ng bagong assemble na jeepney tapos wala pang line/franchise and association membership... Ang masakit pa dun, minsan same lang engine na gamit ng old and new jeep (C-240 pa uso noon, mahal pa parts ng 4BA-1). And same (luma vs new) kikitahin lang nila.
Pero nag-invest/gumastos din naman taxi companies nung (finally) pinagbawal na yung Gemini... (Remember yung Fiber-Glass version para lang mapatagal sila sa pasada?)
Kaya I'm hoping na balang araw, maisip din nila i-modernize yung jeep and tricycle...
Safety na passenger... Di pwedeng naka-labas paa ng passenger kapag nakasakay sa likod ng tricycle.
And yung Jeep... Kailangan na ng Aircon, tapos yung passenger na nakatayo (sabit) dapat nasa loob
^ sa cdo madami ganyan. Nagulat nga ako. Am just not sure if they're electric or not

Good thing DTI proposed design plans resemble a modern vehicle... not something stuck in the past.

Was hoping the new design would have 2 doors. One each for loading and unloading. So they can minimize time wasted at stops.
If ever a new design gets pushed through to production, I hope they modernize the driver as well. No more reckless, irresponsible drivers please.
Also hope they would only stop at designated stops. Not wherever they like, as they do so now.

We used to go to a restaurant where you would eat inside a jeep. They placed tables inside the jeep and it was very amusing for me as a kid. Too bad taking photos in the 80s wasn't as easy as it is now.
In grade school I still saw Jeepneys that had horses in the hood and tassles as design. It was very flamboyant! Now jeepneys are just big metal chunks hehehe
