Talicud Island Davao. May parte na lote yung tatay ko dun as mana. Ako na lang sa magkakapatid ang di pa nakarating dun but I don't think my siblings are into island living anyway. But I am.

If money is no object, Ayala Alabang, nature and development, there's no beach, ok lang, I bet most of those who want a beach house will spend most of their time in their air-conditioned homes after several months of beach life.

I'm thinking of staying somewhere in the Cordilleras, outside Baguio City. Living there for a couple of decades, it gets tiring especially when the tourism in the city was at full bloom pre-pandemic. Won't like retiring there, but still wanna be close enough so I can still meet with my friends hehe.
Maybe La Union or Benguet areas would be fine, basta malapit din sa simple kabihasnan haha
Me - malapit sa beach, walking distance if possible
Wife - Tagaytay area
Reality - we are looking to start a business around end of this year. if the location is outside Manila, we will most probably buy a retirement home there. (sana drivable from Manila)
ANo kontra eh yung post ko eh sobrang calculado na hinid ko basta maiwan true qc kaya dapat makakabalik ako within an hour's time kasi yan ang lugar na PINAKACOMPLETO NA MABABA MAGBENTA.
kita mo post ni vodka "if the novelty wears off sa madaling salita eh pang uugod-ugod for retirement. Not for a 20s 30s 40s even 50s mahirapan pa tumira sa isla. Gusto ko pa tumikim ng milkteh at xiaolongbao.
at yung sabi ni chupapi "most of the time pag nasa beach eh sa aircon lang naman tatambay." Oh ayan sigurado ganyan gagawin nyo sa beach kasi iba init sa tabing-dagat kumpara sa init city life but the best init eh sa waterfalls. Parang may something yung init sa alat eh. (pero ako im the anti aircon pag beach/waterfalls area kasi ayaw ko lamig-init, init-lamig. Nacoconfuse katawan nagugulo imumunity. Pinapangatawan ko init or ang diskarte is to stay sa madami shade tree sa to lessen the heat. Yes the magic word is to lessen not artificial cold air)
Kaya kita mo ngayon covid mayabang ako. Calculado eh.
cathey & dok,
So my ideal place is antipolo the direcho side.
Wag nyo ako gagayahin kasi kailangan lumabas ano nasa damdamin nyo.
You have no business here anyway, you don't live, study or work here kaya walang weight ang opinion mo. It's getting so old e, kapag kami ni dr d hindi ka na pinansin, si Missx na lang ang nagiisang nakakatiis sayo dito sa board.
cathey,
year 2021 na. But im IRRESISTABLE kasi TUMUTUMPAK MGA SINASABI KO EH. Kita mo nga may post si cast no shaider sa ibang thread = "Ayoko man but I agree with Kags hahaha"
Nagpost lang naman ako about scottie ngippen hatred situation ng misserbulls of the 90s.
May hesitation.
So salot ba mga hapon kasi antivaxxers? Tsk tsk tsk patravel-travel hind alam ginagalawan.
I looked up Talicud Island and it's almost same size lang pala sa isla namin sa Mindoro. We have residential and farm lots there, pero we're currently managing them remotely. Kahit siguro wala pang pandemic mahirap din talaga. Yung bahay namin is in a state of disrepair na. Since pare-pareho na kaming established dito sa Marikina we're still undecided kung gagastusan pa ba namin iyon. Napakahirap na sitwasyon since kahit we've lived the better part of our lives here in the city we're still promdi by heart and spirit. Our place is just walking distance sa beach (200m?) and same din sa bukid (another 200m). Dati kapag sumasakay kami ng barko about 90% ng pasahero eh magkakakilala kung di man magkakamag-anak.
Sa mga netizens like us, isa pa yan kaya mahirap mag-settle sa probinsya. Matatagalan pa bago magkaroon ng stable 100mbps (or even 50mbps) connection sa amin. Even magkaroon ng Starlink, it would relatively be more expensive and slower as compared to what our urban brethren have access to. Otherwise, if this becomes a practical reality - wow, that would be like living in nirvana. A solar powered house with high speed internet. Saan ka pa?![]()
Saan ka sa Mindoro? I lived in San Jose, once upon a time, I was thinking it should be highly urbanized by now

San Jose is in the main island. I have only been in Calapan and Puerto Galera which are in Oriental Mindoro. Mamburao being the provincial capital and San Jose is where my dearly departed mom used to go on teacher trainings and conferences when we were younger. Siguro if I get serious with either cycling or biking we may plan a trip there.
Mayroon kaming sariling mundo being isolated from the mainland. Lubang Island had been part of Batangas and I think Cavite rin before pero di na namin inabutan iyon. We're still part of Region IV-A though. This is where the Japanese straggler Lt. Hiroo Onoda made his last stand lasting 30 years. Just googling for pictures made me pretty nostalgic and longing to be able to visit again.

Beach life is indeed not for everyone. Either you really love the sea or you're rich enough to afford a secluded but secured and comfortable abode close to the beach. You must have 2 things, a really good source of water and electricity. Those are a must. Again a river or creek that runs through your property would be ideal as well.
Much better if you have a farm by the other side and the beach on the other. Perfect setup. It's even better if you know how to fish and cultivate as well. Tipid, relaxing, enjoyable, a worthwhile endeavor when in retirement already as we need physical activity still.
