    i like her, already.

the general layman perception is, i daresay, they're in the boondocks because they're not good enough to land a position in the city or other more profitable areas.
so, am i correct, or am i wrong?

That's not true Doc, kung gusto lang ng niece ko to earn money eh she should could have opened a clinic and I believe she'll earn a lot, at first we persuaded her to open and we can support her but she said she has her own priorities and that's to help people and we respect it and salute her for that.

thing about people is that people operate on perception not on fact

even if a barrio doctor is highly competent meron mga tao may negative perception

tinitingnan kasi ng mga tao sino ang mga pasyente nung doktor

i mean if the patients of a doctor are rich and powerful people, may perception na magaling ung doctor

ang thinking kasi why would rich and powerful people go see that doctor if he wasn't good

    people operate on branding kasi

Good on her bro. I know one doctor who has had years of serving in an Australian hospital under his belt but went home to serve his old neighborhood in the province.

Some of the best doctors hold clinics in St Lukes, Makati Med or TMC to pay the bills then go to smaller hospitals to serve the less fortunate after.

I hope I can be as much help to the needy as they are when I settle my obligations. More power to them.

Good luck to your family. Hope your son recovers soon.

There's a lot of good doctors din sir kahit na they don't help those sa small town or Barrios, they help whenever they can like lowering their fees or sometimes nga free na lang if talagang wala ang pasyente.

My son is slowly recovering na, platelets are going up, crossing our fingers na tuloy tuloy na.

Yes bro marami naman mabait na doctors in the big hospitals, who knows they might even be doing more charity work than others. I just shared the schedule of some specialists I know who hold clinics for both the wealthy and less fortunate.

Good to hear your son is doing well. Damn this Dengue threat. Nakakatakot. Am now thinking of having the areas around the house fumigated.

our guest speaker in graduation, reminded the graduates not to charge the entire cost of their medical education, all at once from their patients.

the resident who graduated from an elite private medical school was assisting the consultant.
after the procedure, the patient was given the bill. patient's heart sank.
the consultant saw it sink. he then said, "next time na lang."
after the patient had left, the resident asked, "sir, do you know how much money you just gave away?"
the consultant answered, "i was doing that procedure on a daily basis for free, when i was a resident. what's one more?"

Dr Cutie is only in his 50s, still young, tawag nga sa kanya "young ones" kasi yung mentors (?) nila 70s and up :P Thankfully we don't always pay PF since some doctors give free consult na. But for the ones we go to where we have to pay, it's usually P1k.

I have high respect for those doctors who go to barrios and far flung areas. Vocation talaga yan. What I meant are the doctors from small, not so reputable hospitals in the city. May mga na encounter na rin ako mga doctors na sadly e questionable ang character. I know one that gives rx for s2 drugs without having NEVER seen the patient, that is from my personal experience.

I agree, importante ang reputation ng doctor. Referral naman talaga nakukuha doctor, I don't know anyone who just googles their choice of doctor.

Mataas tingin ko sa doctor and these are the kind that ruin the profession. Kung lawyer yan, hindi ako magtataka (no offense to the good lawyers)
