Confused. Studying Civil Engineering right now, recently realized that I like working on stuff more, like cars and computers. Wondering if I should've just went with Mechanical Engineering. Now my father told me that he wants to put up a talyer. Sinabi na niya sa kuya ko (who studied Business Operations Management) but my brother lacked motivation? Or willingness? To do it. Now my father told me the same thing and I loved the idea. I'm in 3rd year college btw so baka sayang lang sa oras kung mag shift pa ako, and ang hirap mag manage ng ganung klaseng business and study at the same time. Abroad parents ko and I'm pretty much alone dito sa pinas so probably ako lang mag manage nung business kung sakali

It's ok to still pursue CE while dabbling in computers and cars.

I have a cousin who took up CE and passed the board as one of the top 20. The first job he chose was Java development. He's currently working as a programmer at Oracle.

I have a cousin who took up CE and passed the board as one of the top 20. The first job he chose was Java development. He's currently working as a programmer at Oracle.

A very good friend is a licensed Civil Engineer (graduate of UP), who pursued his interest in Computers (Software and Hardware). We taught Computer Science in the same university at one point..... Then he studied Law and passed the Bar Exam.... Then became arguably the "fall guy" of a recent anomalous infrastructure deal....

You can be what you want, bro. Go for it...

Me nagkwento sa akin dati...this Architecture grad applied and got a job as developer...pagkasabi, little or very limited programming skills(the company unusually didn't require any programming skills -- basta pumasa ka lang sa tech exam which was designed to test logic instead of language procifiency).

Pinagtiyagaan niya, came out on top dun sa batch of hires. He left a few years later, and i have a feeling he got a very good offer ^_^

Not a developer, but imho, fulfilling naman ang software development, especially if you work on the more groundbreaking/cutting edge tech. You get to exercise your creativity...and, if you feel like it, you can have your side projects as well.

The downside is time pressure and long hours.

I'm nervous and anxious.

I hope the test results on my heart are all normal. I think my doctor suspects something is wrong because in the previous years he would always say that there is a slim chance that anything is wrong with my heart but just for my peace of mind he makes me do tests on my heart.

BUT NOW he had several tests done without my asking for it
