We use tissue papers to wipe our mouths after we eat. Ladies use them after taking a pee. Are tissue papers really clean, especially those that are printed with the restaurant's name?

Chances are, they're not. They're porous and contain fibrous material, very easy for bacteria to cling on to.

Think about it. Even if they are served "clean" at the restaurant, the handling of the napkins can vary from user to user (the waiters serving you, for example, can have dirty hands).

Suffice to say, however, that we almost always come into contact with bacteria anyway. It's a constant cycle of cleansing and getting into contact with them.

and also, there are some restaurants that buy unfolded tissue papers from the grocery, and they just let their waiters/waitresses do the folding. baka pagnahulog sa sahig yung tissue, ibabalik din nila

I've taken Microbiology last semester here in the US and some experiments have shown that bacteria can be found almost everywhere you can touch anything. So if anything is exposed, assume it has some bacteria. Most of the bacteria that contaminate those naman are harmless.

In fact you have some on your skin right now due to typing and using the keyboard and mouse. Search for Staphylococcus epidermidis

if you want a clean tissue, you can get some tissue and sterilize them using uv light, i agree that the tissue are not 100% bacteria free, even the napkins served at starbucks(where i usually get=P)

or you can use wet wipes clinically they are sterile as they contain bacteriostatic agents.

Or buy your own personal autoclave

Agreed, wet wipes like the ones in sealed sachets should be clean enough. It would be a bit hard to get a UV light source ...

This is why I only use my shirt or the back of my hand.

Edit If I'm going to die by using "unclean" tissue I probably don't deserve to live anyway. :rofl01:

Yun ding palstic na pinaglalagyan ng softdrinks at minsan, ulam. Nakakaduda yung linis nila. Parang may chemicals ito kahit bago, at malinis tingnan.

If it's visibly clean, I would just presume it's clean. I wouldn't mind about the microscopic dirts.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it (unless may skidmarks nga!). There's a lot more rubbish on the desks and computers we work on, than you would care to imagine.
