the original concept of tnvs, is really not a taxi's.
but someones along the way, transformed it into a de facto taxi on call with kontratadong bayad. kulang na lang, ay yung garish exterior color, the toplight, and yung metro sa loob.

I think noong simula lang itong "bawal iTaxi" since yung 5th Gen was part of the People's Car initiative ng government.

(Kasama sa People's Car yung CD-5 and Charade)

Now na well established na ang Honda locally... wala na yung "contract" na bawal sya i-Taxi.

Although like all local car brands, mawawala warranty ng car kapag naka-for-hire (yellow plate) sya

what did they expect to accomplish, back then, when they suggested that their cars may not be used as taxis?
some manufacturers like their cars to be used as taxis. it transforms into sales and income for the company.

When Ayala brought Honda locally in the early 90s, it was a marketing move to tell people that Honda is not meant to be used as taxis. Prior to that, almost any brand was used as taxis. They had to do something to make them different.

Well, their plan did work and it brought that premium mindset on the brand even though some of the early Civics (EG platform) had a terrible problem of rust building on its ceiling and the notorious sliding of their AT trannies (4AT).

Hahaha... I remember the first time I drive the 1.1L Civic EG - sobrang bigat ng steering... driving the Corolla was much better.

I must agree that Ayala's plan for Honda is doing wonders for them... Just look at the cars na lumabas for Taxi...
