my hard disk just failed. nag-short ata. nadamay pati power supply ko.

all info would be greatly appreciated.

stellar phoenix, may pang FAT saka NTFS yan. yan ginamit ko dati. ok naman.

    goodluck bro.

    PC1= yung may problemang PC

    yup...tama c sir yan_168:

Be sure to make it a "slave" muna then read ng OS yung laman ng HD mo. Just check na lang the jumpers dun mismo sa HD. Kung okey, kopya mo na agad sa "mister" disk mo.

happened to me once too often... kung hindi kaya ng slave talaga, as in hindi na ma-detect, scour the buy n sell sections for HD recovery. some shops do that.. as in physically bubuksan ang HD mo...

    hope this helps!

Depends on the kind of failure of the HDD.

IF the controller board on the HDD failed, repairing/recovering the HDD is as simple as finding the same kind of HDD to borrow the controller board from and swap it in.

Yup, their advice is all correct. . . if given the chance to recover your files, back it up. . . . save your important files on CD-R to prevent worries.

    dear tebs,

you can also ask help from our resident experts at our sister tech and gadgets site NETPH.COM.

it's also a cool community composed mostly of tsikoteers too!

    see you there!

try booting from another disk and assign your "damaged" disk as a slave. you "might be" able to access the information in your "damaged" disk this way.

May mga firms that specialize in data recovery. They usually do forensics for the NBI, if them agents need a job to recover data for evidence (if you can call it that). Anyway, it can cost you an arm. Lahat ng advice nila is correct.

A technique I read somewhere is if you bring the temperature of the hard drive down to the freezing point by putting it in a freezer first and then taking it back out, somehow the condensation from bringing it back to room temperature helps revive it for about 20 minutes, it can be repeated about five to six times tops. Long enough to get out any important files that need to be backed up.

usually faulty hdd files' can be recovered using it as a slave while having a primary hdd online. kung ayaw talaga, resort to the previous tsikoteer's posts. Kung hindi naman subjected to heat and/or "biglang pagkabagsak" and/or nabuhusan ng tubig or pagkain, I think having it as a slave will do.

yup! these guys are pro's when it comes to data recovery. kahit nasunog na yung PC nakukuha pa nila ang data. they have "cleanrooms" wherein they disect the HDD.

    mahal pero sulit.

this is only if the problem is the HDD's bearings.

There is no condensation happening inside the HDD itself because its a sealed environment. The danger here is condensation forming on the HDD's controller board causing a short-circuit is greater.
