Tsong, anong real name mo? same course and batch tayo sa MIT.

If I remember it right, the same predicament when Maharishi was trying to buy out Mapua way back in 1986 (?) and eventually will be changed to Maharishi University. But due to pressures from students and alumni, Mapua family decided not to go with the plan and instead decided to continue the Mapua legacy.

Sa Mapua kasi that time, quality of education is the name of the game and not profit as YGC group is trying to achieve. Imagine, I entered Mapua with just P1,000+ lang ang tuition and I graduated with the same tuition fee though new enrollees already jackedup their fees and this is not applied to old students.

And YGC invented an unprecedented Quadmester. Wow, Tuition Fee times Four. "Male-yan" Yuchengco. Try to establish first your own prestige and excellence and stealing it from Mapua by changing the name to Malayan Insurance University. Viva Mapua 3x !!!!

galit na galit nga ung lola na batch 72 kanina. daming sinabi, may mga sinabi pa na comedy gamit ung malayan. hehehe. naawa ako don kay lola. umiiyak na sa galit. kasi daw asawa niya CE batch 69, tas ung 2 anak niya ngayon 2nd year saka 4th year CE din.

sarap nga dati, pag pumasok ka hanggang maka grad ka ganon ung tuition mo. walang increase, kung meron man sobrang liit. ung batch 99 ata inabot un. sayang batch 2001 ako pumasok ng mapua. sobra taas ng tuition namin tas nag quarterm pa. hanggang maka grad ako nung oct halos ma doble na ung tuition ko simula nung pumasok ako. tsk tsk

The problem is that the heirs of Tomas Mapua did not preserve the legacy of the old man. When you sell a corporation, one of the rights of the buyer is to change the Corporate name. It appears that the present students and alumni are over-reacting to the change of the corporate name if in fact, the former owners themselves are not making any opposition to it.

In my opinion, the choice of a name like surname to be the name of an institution is not sound. Imagine if instead of San Miguel Corporation it was named as Soriano corporation, Danding will lose no time in changing that name!

If you will pursue an engineering course in the now apparent Malayan University, you will not lose that Mapua name. For your Institute or College is that of Mapua Institute of Technology. But for Christ sake, if you will pursue a Nursing course and be a graduate in that institution, it will be very awkward to say that you are a graduate of Mapua.

It is not unusual for educational institutions to change its name. The former CRC or Center for Research and Communication is now the UAP or the University of Asia and the Pacific.
