Yes, my new past time is watching Filipino youtube channels Mapapa iling ka na lang sa mga Filipino personalities sa youtube. Bumili ng hilux e pareho naman hindi marunong mag drive! How impractical is that? It took over a month before they got to use it. Ang matindi pa, they budgeted 150k to make it RICEY!

Bumili pa sila nung mga pots and pans na worth hundreds of thousands na hulugan din!

I saw this couple's finances evolve, discovered them Dec 2016. Their online business picked up in 2017 so that's when they bought the hilux, rented a bigger apartment and started with skin care such a GLUTA IV. At totoo yung sinabi mo re owning a vehicle, puro road trip na sa North and South. The sad thing is their only son studies in the same school If I were a parent the biggest chunk of my budget would go to my child's education and housing.
Lol sino yan sa youtube? I dont think ive come across that channel.

Bro, I agree to this mantra to some extent...

However, IMO, works primarily for those who have the dough...

well just live within your means. it's really just that

but yes people are brand-conscious. like a few months ago i bought an almost new RockShox mountain bike fork for really cheap. it's a perfectly good suspension fork with all the features you need unless you're an elite athlete

but the guy sold it because he wanted a Fox, for no valid reason other than he likes to have a Fox. so he bought a mid-range Fox that's about the same level as the RockShox he sold.

so in the end he spent a lot more on a Fox fork that doesn't work any better than the Rockshox he sold

Im actually somewhat guilty of being brand conscious.

My hiking gears are all branded as i prefer and trust them more due to them being rugged.

I rather spend more than be sorry down the road.

Agree. If I followed that mantra and bought all the little toys I've wanted over the years because they "didn't make me poorer", I'd end up without enough savings for a wedding and home amortization.

It's nice to indulge once in a while, but if you indulge for the short term all the time, you won't notice but you're cultivating a very expensive lifestyle.

If it's a matter of life and death, esp sa hiking where one slip or fall could've been prevented had you bought the branded one instead of the generic one, then by all means; choose the branded one.

It really depends on your buying power, buying know-how and intentions...

Some Filipinos are smart buyers. Thread title should include the word "some"

My main fear is my gear would rip off midway and be a burden on the group. I always see broken shoe soles on the trail so this reinforces my decision to go branded.
