Yung mga Lacoste Sport meron talagang nakasulat na name sa buttons. Ang pinakita kasi sa Balitang K yung mga Lacoste Classic na pearl ang buttons.

i have some original lacostes and some fake lacostes. obviously, bogus points go to my 'made-in-france-my-ass' fakes, right? right. but wait, why don't we inspect the origs...

the origs, for some 'area51-level' reason, do not indicate where on earth the shirts are made. the tag just says lacoste, period. to me, this is just too dubious. i have never encountered a decent, genuine, branded international apparel label that has no indication of its country of production--> nada. except of course for lacoste!!! where is the product integrity here??? unless original lacostes are made in uranus, and deciding not to disclose this info would be smart since no one would believe it anyway.

so what's the reason behind this deception??? anyone from rustan's here? i haven't really paid close attention to lacoste tags abroad but is this deception also practiced by lacoste elsewhere??? there's got to be a trade law against this right?

another thing... my old origs look way faker than my old fakes. honest. i bought both orig and fake lacostes last xmas 2006 and i have worn both an equal number of times since then (the fakes look really ohhsoonice kasi!). the bottom part of the old origs turned kinda wave-y. they're beginning to look more like soggy bacon than a shirt. i really don't like wearing my breakfast around so pambahay na lang sya ngayon. Sosyal!

another thing is that on the old origs, the color has faded in the lower part. nagparang 80s acid wash hehehe. the color on the old fakes??? good as new bang & olufsen's (ok, exxag na ito). the collar is also another issue. on my old size 3 origs, the collar has turned size 5 or 6!!! the old fake???.... you guessed it, size 3 pa rin! If you’re wondering paano paglaba nito? Well, it doesn’t really matter since both were washed the same way anyway.

so you tell me, do i still buy the origs? no way josé. i think rustans' lacoste is bogus really.

Ok naman mga old Lacostes ko. I had one that lasted more than 10 years. Nasuot ko dati from highschool until after college.

I have bought Lacoste from overseas and they also don't indicate which country it was made.

well, may pagka-exag talaga ng konti post ko yesterday, sorry but what i really would like to say is that mas maganda maluma yung fakes ko. may evident fading and loosening of bottom part/collar talaga sa orig. the fakes, di masyado sa 'loosening' issue.

now why is it that lacostes don't indicate where they're made? why wouldn't they? seems a bit shady to me. unless nahihiya sila kung saan gawa.

Hindi sa nahihiya, there's some people kasi who psychologically prefer things that are made in more industrialized countries than poorer countries, even if the quality of workmanship is just the same. If Lacoste have a manufacturing plant, say in Vietnam, and another one in Australia, baka humina ang benta ng galing sa Vietnam. So instead of closing down the plant in Vietnam which will result in hundreds of people out of work, Lacoste Co. might just have decided to remove the "Made in (country)" in its labels.

As I've posted in this thread a few pages back, remember the time when Nokias made in France have a higher selling price as against similar model Nokias that are made in China? Now most Nokias just put in their label "Made by Nokia".

ok i see your point and the rationale seems acceptable but obviously from an entirely manufacturer's/seller's point-of-view. i remember that nokia change and suddenly yung mga nagbebenta ng nokia, when asked kung saan galing yung nokias nila, ang sagot eh 'sir, galing finland po yan'.. yeeeeah right. hehehe.

as a consumer, i'd surely like to know where the clothes are made and how much it is before i make the decision to buy.

    +1 to what boybi said.

baka nga un ang reason kung bakit nila tinanggal ung "made in ---". i've also wondered before why my lacoste shirts, bought here in a lacoste boutique in the emirates, don't indicate where it was made.

    from wikipedia.....

The company is currently owned at 65% by the Lacoste family and at 35% by Devanlay. Procter and Gamble is licence-holder for the fragrance line.

Lacoste is headquartered in Paris. Lacoste currently has its production capital in Troyes, France, though they delegate production of international clothing to numerous factories around the world, including those found in Peru and Morocco and Italy. After a 2 year search in the Central American region, Lacoste established production for its US customers in the Miramar Free Trade Zone in El Salvador. El Salvador operations will be managed by a new the local subsidiary Textil El Salvador (TRANS).
