Its difficult here in the Phlippines. I can't imagine how those smoke-belching buses and PUJ get past emissions tests in LTO. I know the test is not stringent nor serious but can be easily circumvented with a little grease money at the side. Its really difficult bec. the people (in general terms) need to learn to prioritize things (environment, country, etc) first and even above themselves and vested interest, all for the purpose of seeing the country move forward and the world to be a better place ( yes, so cliched!:D)

Remember those ugly land fills in Tondo (formerly) and Payatas (currently)? I guess we can start by having a garbage recycling program in the macro and micro scale starting with all household residences to segregate their garbage. I have seen it being implemented inside North Forbes Park, so far. Of all the people I see around, I think its only the bote-dyaryo, etc. who are interested in recycling!:D

AFAIK, the Jewish people are already in the promised land which the world supposedly gave back to them back in 1948 or so. Jews and Palestenians strongly believe that only of them were mandated to occupy the land by God. This disagreement has created a gridlock wherein Palestenians and Jews are squabbling on who gets to control of the land and even Holy sites like Jerusalem. The true tire kicker here is when these two nations make peace with each other. According to the Bible, the anti-christ (a very charismatic individual who will rise from nowhere) will broker a peace bet. the two nation but will eventually betray the Israelites. (I hope I got that right).

On a side note, people actually Bill Clinton was the anti-christ when he tried to broker peace in 1994 with Rubin and Arafat in Camp David.

    let's look at some numbers...

year 2000 is the 2nd millenium, it's suppose to be the year of the 2nd coming of Christ. if He was born in 2000 then He is now 7 years old.

the earth is a few million years overdue of a giant meteor strike. the last one obliterated the dinosaurs.

yellowstone national park in north america, in truth a giant volcano, is 50,000 years overdue for an eruption. its normal cycle is 600,000 years and it has been 650,000 years since its last big one.

the earth is long overdue for another magnetic pole flip. scientist have measured from geological data that the earth's magnetic core flips (that is, north changes to south and south changes to north) every 300,000 years. it has been 780,000 years since the last one. it has been speculated that some of the ice ages were caused by this flipping of the poles. when the poles flip it causes an imbalance in the rotation of the earth, causing it to wiggle off its axis. this may be the reason why the woolly mammoths found in siberia had tropical plants in their stomachs. such sudden changes in climate would have made tropical places frigid and frigid zones tropical overnight.

the calendar we are using has been revised numerous times in the past. So 2007 A.D. doesnt mean Jesus was born exactly 2007 years ago. December 25 isnt even the date of birth. It was a pagan holiday turned into a christian holiday. So any sort of calculation using the calendar we are using is crap coz dami na corrections and revisions na ang ginawa sa calendar.

Geologists always use those big numbers but look at how they predict volcanic eruptions on volcanoes that are already steaming and throwing up and ready to erupt ---- they cant give an exact time and day of the eruption. Puro warning lang. Yun lang they cant be precise.

E yung mga 10,000 year cycles or 100,000 year cycles pa... who the hell knows? those geologists could be off by a million years.

Geologists cant predict earthquakes either. all they do is read seismographs and talk about earthquakes that happened. But they are totally clueless to those that are gonna happen in the future.

So i dont expect them to predict poles flipping over.

    uls,

well the scientists are not predicting anything, nor do they attempt to do so. all they are saying is that the earth's geological records had certain events every such number of years, the average period between events are such number of years and the last event was so many numbers of years past the average. all they say is that the records suggests the events are overdue.

actually according to scientists the end of the world or end of present day mankind will come, not from global warming but from ice age. the earth usually experiences ice age between 10thousand to 20thousand years. the warm climate that we are experiencing right now is just a short interval between ice ages.

they reasoned out that earth's axis to the sun is not perfectly round, it usually comes to a point where the axis sort of wobbles and then stretches farther away from the sun. when it happens ice age occurs, they computed and gave some very technical reasons for this phenomena.

they said that when ice age comes, it is instantaneous and man would never have the chance to prepare. the time frame when the weather changes would happen in as little as a two days to a few months.

End of the world or End of the mankind? Global warming is really happening. Look at the sea level rise every year. Nawawala na ang iba island ng Pinas dahil sa pagtaas ng sea level. Baka may isa araw d na Kotse bibili natin. Kung d barko!
