just my opinion and no offense intended to any muslin here (if there are any) but, of all the world religions, i find islam to be the most intolerant of other people's beliefs and opinions. kaya anggulo sa middle east eh, at kayang-kaya sila lokohin ng governments nila through simple propaganda campaigns.

The Pope was inconsiderate. He should have never mentioned the prophet Mohammad in his speech. Haven't people learned from the cartoons people in Denmark did. The pope should have just focused on the concept of jihad and never mentioned the prophets name.

Hmmm. If we were to be as intolerant as these Muslims, then Iran's leader should've been shot on the spot for his own insulting remarks.... my 2 centimos....

I expect the Pope will issue an apology because it was an honest mistake. But, I doubt Iran's leader ever will.

    IMO - nagkamali talaga.

What he should have focused on is fundamentalists / extremists.

The pope merely pointed out the dark roots of islam. Let's hope this won't get out of hand.

You know them "Islam fundamentalist/extremist", they can kill or be killed for their prophet. Tough as it may seem but the true islam follower are the fundamentalist/extremist.

    IMO

    Islam has no "dark roots".

A true Islamic follower doesn't twist the Koran's text to command other people to do their will for Allah.

Christianity also had their (but not so much right now) taste of fundamentalism in the Middle Ages.

well, if we will really read the life and works of the prophet of Muhammed, I believe he was a general of some sort and a military tactician.

    from wikipedia

    Muhammad as a military leader
Main article: Muhammad as a general
For most of the sixty-three years of his life, Muhammad was a merchant, then a religious leader. He took up the sword late in his life. He was an active military leader for ten years.

Critics claim that Muhammad expanded his realm and imposed his religion by force. [citation needed] Muslim commentators, however, argue that he fought only to defend his community against the Meccans, and that he insisted on humane rules of warfare. [citation needed] The rules stated that women are not to be harmed or molested, children are not to be harmed. No non combatent is to be fought and if the enemy does not wish to fight you then escort him to a place of security. In reference to the Quran "fight those who fight you and do not commit aggression for God does not like those who commit aggression" (2:190-191)
anyway, I think it's uncalled for the German Pope to bring out the past since it's the past na naman eh. unless it's the fulfillment of another nostradamus prophecy, then may God help us all. If I remember correctly doon sa nostradamus thread dito, na-discuss yan prophecy ng isang war mongering pope that will cause divisions in the Christian faith.

he's just making a point. I think he doesn't have any intention to hurt muslims. unfotunately, he drag the name of prophet Mohammed. He should apologize for it and continue his intention on making dialogues with muslim communities for peace.
