    1. when you get your sallary, pay yourself first by putting some money in the bank for savings.

    2. don't bring lots of cash, atm or credit card in your wallet, just bring enough for what you intend to do or buy (add some allowance for emergencies of course). or do what my wife and i do - i carry the atm but i do not know the pin, only she does. if there is a real need for cash it has to be a consensus between the 2 of us to be able to use the atm card. that way even if you see something very tempting to buy you won't be able to do so since you don't have the money in your pocket.

    3. take care of what you have. that way you don't need to spend money for repairs when it gets broken or spend money to replace it. cleanliness is the best way to make things last, no matter what that thing is. cleaning your car, your house, your yard, toilet, washing machine, tv set and computer (if you are the diy kind) etc etc will save you a lot, and keep you busy enough you avoid going to the mall and spending!

    4. prepaid! get rid of that plan. prepaid may cost more in the short term since the calls and sms cost more, but you are in control. post paid just says "i'm a willing victim, take my money!" also, there's always the LANDLINE, if you still remember what that is. if you can call the other party using a regular telephone, why use a cellphone?

    5. be generous to your health, it pays. sabi nga bawal magkasakit.
