one & the same as far as i can tell
anyone care to shed light?
baka may kumopya? gaanong katagal na ba yung selecta brand? afaik good humor has been around since before world war 2
Selecta? Hmmm. AFAIK, RFM and Wall's Ice Cream teamed up last, oh, 1998-99 to form Selecta Wall's Ice Cream here in the Philippines. RFM back then wanted to introduce the Wall's Ice Cream brand. Teka, Wall's nga ba or Walsh's? Anyway, Good Humor was founded in the 1920's.
A good local ice cream brand is Cool Spot. It was established after WWII by a Chinoy who used surplus equipment left by the Americans. Their products are available at Cash 'N Carry and at their Big Scoop shop in N. Domingo. If you want something different rather than the Big Three (Magnolia, Nestle and Selecta), I recommend Cool Spot.
AFAIK, dehins ito available locally. Then again, I could be wrong.Originally Posted by knicks1204

yeah, they do have the same logo!!!
maybe Selecta is the Philippine version of Good Humor???
but damn - Good Humor strawberry shortcake is good! yummy!![]()
Cool Spot is the name of the product, Big Scoop yung store name ng outlet nila.Originally Posted by the_wildthing
It was 1920. Harry Burt had just created the Jolly Boy Sucker, a lollypop on a stick. Later, while working in his ice cream parlor, Burt developed a smooth chocolate coating that was compatible with ice cream. Unfortunately, the new combination was too messy to eat. Burt’s young son, Harry Jr., suggested that his dad take some of the wooden sticks used for the Jolly Boy Suckers and freeze them into the ice cream. The first ice cream on a stick was born.
The name Good Humor came from the belief that a person’s “humor” or temperament was related to the humor of the palate (one’s sense of taste).
To market his Good Humor Bars, Burt sent out a fleet of 12 chauffeur-driven trucks with bells to make door-to-door deliveries. The Good Humor Man was born.
In 1930, a New York businessman and investor by the name of M.J. Meehan acquired the national rights to the company by buying 75% of the shares.
During the 1950s and 1960s, the fleet of Good Humor trucks kept expanding, and the Good Humor Man became an institution. The tinkling of the truck's bell would attract kids of all ages, in search of the delicious ice cream on a stick.
The Meehan family owned the company until 1961 when it was sold to Unilever's U.S. subsidiary, the Thomas J. Lipton Company.
In 1976, when the company’s direct-selling business was phased out in favor of grocery stores and free-standing freezer cabinets, the trucks were parked for the last time.the heart logo is a Wall's (global ice cream brand of unilever) logo. ;)yeah, they do have the same logo!!!
maybe Selecta is the Philippine version of Good Humor???

Good Humor is owned by Unilever. Selecta (RFM Corp) and Unilever Philippines entered into a joint venture agreement a few years back (1999 if my memory serves me right) in order to market Selecta Walls Ice Cream in the Philippines.
For info, Unilever also owns Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream. A premium ice cream brand in the US.
okay lang kahit magkopyahan sila... pero sana magka good humor din dito... FIC pa rin the best... nauubos ko yun pint nila at parang bitin pa eh...
