Yeah I'm a little dissappointed at what I'm seeing outside...

sa typing nalang e... CHRISTMAS has become XMAS nalang...

At our home, Christmas and New Year celebrations are merrier every year.

I'm getting that child-like feeling... still... at 30 years of age.

    Be thankful guys! Merry Christmas!

X is the greek symbol for Chi.

here's a more detailed explanation from the wiki:
The word "Christ" and its compounds, including "Christmas", have been abbreviated in English for at least the past 1,000 years, long before the modern "Xmas" was commonly used. "Christ" was often written as "XP" or "Xt"; there are references in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle as far back as AD 1021. This X and P arose as the uppercase forms of the Greek letters χ and ρ used in ancient abbreviations for Χριστος (Greek for "Christ"), and are still widely seen in many Eastern Orthodox icons depicting Jesus Christ. The labarum, an amalgamation of the two Greek letters rendered as ☧, is a symbol often used to represent Christ in Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox Christian Churches.[15]

ok, now we know what ☧ in the church really means ;)

let me remind everyone the December holidays had pagan origins

way before Jesus was born, people celebrated the winter solstice (when the Earth tilts farthest away from the sun resulting in the shortest day and longest night of the year in Northern European countries)

it was a pagan tradition before Christians hijacked it and turned it into Christmas

the date December 25 was chosen to conform to Roman Saturnalia

early Christians adopted that day for Christmas so they wouldnt look too obvious celebrating something else

the Romans celebrated Saturnalia around the winter solstice

in Europe, winter solstice was celebrated with lights, evergreens, the Yule log (sounds familiar?)

the real birthday of Jesus was never known

early Christians chose December 25 to celebrate Christmas out of convenience

we can be happy naman anytime of the year diba?

why should we pressure ourselves to meet society's/media's standards and expectations on what Christmas should be?

so what if we don't have decors at home? it takes work to take them down

so what if we didnt buy anything for ourselves and our loved ones? we can go shopping AFTER the holidays

so what if not every member of the family is present for noche buena? we can always get together with them some other time

kaya dami na-de-depress tuwing Christmas season kasi media and society puts a lot of pressure on people na dapat ganito ganyan ang Christmas... dapat complete ang family, dapat may regalo, dapat may masarap na pagkain, dapat masaya...

    O di kaya Holiday Season.

Ganyan dito sa Saudi. No mention of Christmas kahit sa mga greeting cards. Bawal.

Pero may mga Saudis din na nakakaintindi, minsan bubulungan ka....."Merry Christmas!"

Another Deception put forth by the catholic church to fool believers to adopting their religion easier.

According to BBC and the Discovery Channel, biblical archeologists have put Christ's actual birthday at April 17.

    yep

in the early years of the Catholic church, a pope declared Dec 25 to be the day to celebrate Jesus' birth

the purpose was to make it easy for pagan Romans (who celebrated Saturnalia) to convert to Christianity

it made the new religion easier to accept coz their traditional pagan holidays wouldnt be eliminated

same with Easter... pagan origin -- celebration of a spring goddess, beginning of spring, equinox

I don't know if its me but so far traffic seems to be relatively better now then the past two years.
+1, except that I think traffic gets worse each and every day, not just Christmas. What I don't like also is the fact that going to malls or bazaars during the holiday season is like trench warfare!

I agree with what roninblade said, that when you have kids, Christmas suddenly changes. Last Christmas I felt that it was a drag, but this all changed when our son was born (and he's celebrating his first Christmas this year). I have started to view things differently now, in that I look forward to celebrating Christmas with my family (and extended family)

Another story i found when googling about Christmas:

    From http://www.thechucknorrisfacts.com/

Chuck Norris sent Jesus a birthday card on December 25th and it wasn't Jesus’ birthday. Jesus was too scared to correct Chuck Norris and to this day December 25th is known as Jesus' birthday.
