i remember alvin during his prime lalo na nung varsity pa siya ng mapua, seen him during practice and i could say that iba talaga work ethics niya....he had led the cardinal during their games sa NCAA kaya lang malakas talaga Letran nuon (Samboy Lim).

At eto pa, maybe few people knows, Alvin plays for street basketball league...parang import siya kasi walang name jersey niya. I personally witness it kasi pinapanood ko siya dun sa liga namin nuon sa Sampaloc. Ang lakas talaga mag-laro, no match!!!

Usap usapan nuon (mga miron sa tabi tabi) na si Alvin drinks a big glass of milk everyday para palaging malakas.

4-time MVP, too bad di sya ROY nung 1st season niya, he started kc mid-season na, Jolas got it that year, 1988.

Purefoods was just an expansion team then nung but they went into the finals twice in three conferences.

Line ups nila, let me see...Patrimonio, Jolas, Jerry Codinera, Al Solis, Padim Israel, Jayvee Yango, Glenn Capacio & of course El Presidente....di ko na maalala!

Anyway, the Captain deserves a nice exit. Can't wait to see the ceremonies when his jersey will be hung.

I think kasama na sa package nya yung pagiging part ng coaching/management staff pag retire niya, speaking of Franchise Player, he played on the same for the whole 17 years with Purefoods.

Alvin is one year ahead sa akin sa Mapua ;) Nakatune-up game pa namin sila dati nung player ako ng ROTC, too bad wala na siya nung nagkaroon kami ng selection sa intramurals kasi nilampaso namin ang Cardinals (yabang). Madalas nyang kasama dati si Nap Gutierrez na kasing tangkad nya kaso bading. Mabait na tao, low profile lang at walang yabang.

i remember Patrimonio was an unstoppable force in the 90s. No one could really guard him although he admitted only Chito Loyzaga was able to defend him inside the paint.

childhood idol ko si cap since I was 10 hehe. I've followed the guy since his rookie year in 88, naalala ko di sya nakajoin agad sa PF nun bec of a contract dispute with his pbl team. All filipino championship sila nun with Anejo pero natalo 3-1. Middle of 88 na nung nag PBA then natalo kay Jolas sa ROY. Meron pa yun multimillion peso deal with PF 25M for 5yrs! An laking news noon yun! Naalala ko pa nung ng 54pts(tama ba?) sya sa isang game pero naeclispe ni caidic nung nag 72 pts sya. I think same din with Bong Alvarez... 70 something pts. Then they has their 1st championship with Baby Dalupan in 1990 hehe finally! Tas an lakas yun purefoods nun lalo sa loob in the early 90's andun si Codinera, Asaytono at Patrimonio! Then lumipat si Asaytono sa Swift and that started their powerforward rivalry. meron pa nga syang movie na ginawa with Codinera and Alvarez kasama sa movie si ruffa, aiko at carmina hehehe The guy had the best moves down low, yun fade away shot na sigurado papasok kahit 2 or 3 team sya. Then nagdatingan mga fil shames nun 99 and he was relegated to SF... not small forward but Shooting From far away hehe. I remember Dalupan once said, he wanted to get Calma from SMB. He would trade anyone from PF for Calma except Patrimonio and that time was when Jolas and Jerry were at their prime. Andami nyang naging team mates and none stayed as long with PF, pati si Jolas at Condinera na franchise players pinakawalan nila but not the Cap. I could remember the days when he played with Mon Fernandez, Guidaben, Dindo Pumaren, Jolas, Condinera, Totoy Marquez, Padim Israel, Asaytono, Capacio, Abe King etc an dami can't remember all and now their gone and he was the last to go.. His team name changed from plain Purefoods to Purefoods TJ hotdogs, then Coney Island and now PF is owned by SMB. Naala ko pa nung kasama nya si Codinera sa PF na nagset ng 10blks in a game. Forgot against which team...

I think he also got the longest playing steak right? 500+ games played straight? Next dun is Gonzalgo ng Anejo/Ginebra which is only half of what alvin made. Naalala ko yun matchup nya nun rookie with Philip Cesar d original tapal king hehe. hirap si alvin nun rookie year nya against philip, pero the next year si philip na ang nahihirapan hehe. Tas sa Alaska, parating bantay sa kanya si Yoyoy Villamin at sa SMB si Dignadice hehe. Sa Presto si Abe King....
