    he's my favorite PBA player.

Patrimonio officially announced his retirement as a player on the day he celebrated his 38th birthday Wednesday, citing several reasons for his decision.

bakit nasa goon squad ito? i can see how you could put jawo here, but not patrimonio ;)

joke lang po - i like patrimonio's game...the closest thing to a tim duncan that the philippines ever had.

this will probably reveal our age gap... :D

...but I like Ramon "El Presidente" Fernandez better than "The Captain"...

he carries a team with his leadership, finesse and magnificent playing style, he did not have the muscles to bang his way around but he had the agility and the talent of an all around player.

sya ang mas kahawig ni tim duncan maglaro actually ;)

Patrimonio at his prime was the best. If only he was six or seven inches taller.... he couldve made it to the NBA (well, maybe hehe)

As a 6'3" PF this guy can take on centers and then some. I recall him being quadruple teamed during his rookie year and still get the "foul-counted" (sosi na ngayon... AND ONE na hehe).

one of the best filipino players talag si patrimonio. sira lang laro nya kay arnie tuadles. mas magaling kasi na post-up player to kesa sa kanya. i remember nung all-filipino finals between presto and purefoods. it's tuadles vs. patrimonio sa low-post.

i think alvin will be assuming the position of team manager sa purefoods, won't he?

    Time will tell.

And yes, Mon Fernandez was my favorite... what other 40++ year old could score consistent double figures (not Jawo!)... he was the heart and soul of the Beermen, a leader and a tactician.

Uy, sinong mga matanda dito? I still remember the bigotilyo squad of SMB... :D

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

i remember el presidente. vacationed in the philippines when i was 10 and my dad got us tickets to a bunch of PBA games.

imo fernandez was more of an andrei kirilenko - one of the best defenders in the league, can rebound and block shots, could play inside and outside on offense, and a great assists man.

patrimonio is duncan because of his great fundamentals - footwork, rebounding/boxing out, a sweet jump shot (he used the backboard just like TD) to add to his dizzying array of post moves. he was also quietly effective and not very flashy, just like TD.

although his size makes him look more like Barkley :D

i would say caidic is more like larry bird. both were high-scoring shooters. both were 3-pt shootout champions. both were team leaders.

bttt, don't you think guys patrimonio plays like kevin mchale in the low-post? (am i revealing my age here? hehe). other than this he really plays like tim duncan.
