artpogi,

the problem kasi is people look at warnings given by scientist as something that will happen today or tomorrow, but probably never will and therefore just but a waste of time and money. but maybe people should look at it another way. ikaw na din nagsabi e, "national disaster coordinating council".

what if we look at it as a guide to making our building codes more strict? what if we prepared, by making sure that our disaster response plans and logistics are in place? what if we coordinate our agencies in government now to be able to respond to such a situation if need be? what if we start earthquake survival training in our schools now so that the situation in nueva ecija where students were pinned in the collapsed school building will not happen again, or at least minimized? what if we inspect our buildings now, especially the schools and hospitals so that those that will be found inadequate will be condemned and thereby not become tombs of our children?

instead of panic, people should learn to be more prudent and prepare for what may be inevitable. now if there are people out there who have the habit of running around like headless chickens, i don't think you can fault philvocs for that. that is unfair, they are just doing their jobs.
