The Camp Creek Road fire has so far killed 68 with 631 still missing. This is the deadliest wildfire in California history. Not to mention the damage that ensued.

This woman just barely got out. She had to stay behind to make sure that the horses in her ranch were safe.

This male nurse used his pickup to save lives. Melted every plastic part.

Kudos to these everyday heroes.... and to all the thousands of brave fire fighters fighting this disaster.

    Here's more:

natural wildfires are a way of nature.
"popular" at na-dya-diyaryo nang malakihan sa california dahil people there live in the verysame woods.
    google nyo po.

    Camp Fire (2018) - Wikipedia

    2018 California wildfires - Wikipedia

Main cause of the scale of the devastation is climate change (hot waether, dry air, strong winds) and lots of fuel (dry, dead trees and brushes).

It hasn't rained seriously in cali for the last 3 or 4 years. Water level is precarious and everything is dry. You can literally start a fire by rubbing stones!

Fire is nature's way of renewing the forest. It has been happening for millions of years. It just so happens that man came into the picture in the last 100,000 years .... and started complaining about it.

"we have not been on this earth as a species, long enough to know what 'too frequently' means."

the late prof punongbayan (?) said something like, "it is nature doing its thing. and the best we can do, is to keep out of its way".

The Ferguson Fire was just this past July, contained a month after. Now, this.[emoji53]

how was it, 20,000 years ago?
for all we know, it could have been once a month, or once a year, or...

we simply have no idea of how common these fires were, back when there were no humans to write about it.

There likely is an inverse prop relationship between world forest area/density & human population. Don't you believe it a logical & safe assumption, doc?[emoji4]

errr...i do not understand the proposition.

but i do believe that there were more plants, trees, and other chlorophyll-containing life forms back then, for burning.

but if it is assumed that emerging humans cut down trees, then it is logical to assume also, that there will be less wild fires because there are less trees to burn.

so, were there more wild fires back when there were less or no humans yet? are there more fires, now that there are more humans?

    i don't know.
