For the longest time, I’ve always dissuaded my wife’s pleas to look for opportunities outside PH. I would always say that we’d miss our families and our comfortable life.

I’ve previously been on short assignments to the US and AUS and it is not easy to live as a minority and that you can only rely on yourself to clean and maintain your own home.

But when she was given a chance to be reassigned to London, I suddenly realized that this was the opportunity of a lifetime and that we should not pass it up. We were given a chance to improve the future of our family as well as the quality of our daily lives (less stress from traffic, more leisure time after work and during weekends, healthier meals, etc).

After a few months living here, I definitely miss home and all my friends and family. But I can also say that I don’t regret our decision to try our luck over here.

^ naniniwala ka ba sa reincarnation?

sa tingen ko na solb ko na ang question of life? i think life is reincarnation. while most of us are solving history re: did we come from the sea, the bacteria or the alien or even the monkey? we will never really solve coz we have different purposes whenever we are reincarnated.

for example, most of us would wish na sana Amerikano na lang tayo lahat coz it s better to live there. pero yun nga ang Purpose mo in this life, maging Pilipino. kung minalas malas ka pa pinanganak ka as class d or E or maybe sa Tondo ka lalaki

so that explains why most Fil-Ams or kayo na mga nag-migrate sa ibang bansa for a better life. a piece of you is missing. it's like exchanged the pursuit of true purpose of this incarnation for a quality life?

kaya ganyan kayo no matter how no traffic sa London or sa America, something inside is remiss. parang may kulang. bakit? nakakbili na ako latest iphone, leather car, cleaner house pero bakit may kulang.

kasi sa Pinas kayo pinanganak, nandito ang purpose nyo

Are you guys there for good?

I am also abroad for work. And i couldn't agree more with you.

Better quality in our day to day lives, better pay, better opportunities and life experiences.

Apart from those things, i think moving overseas for study or work is and will be good for us. Based on my exp, it is very humbling to be abroad because
    - 1st we are nobody and we have nobody
    - 2nd it is a great opportunity to get to know ourselves better
-3rd we will grow and theonly way for us to grow is when we learn to stand on our own feet.

Her assignment is for 5 years, and we shall see if we want to stay here longer or return home or try another country.

You are right, you need to be self-sufficient and confident in your abilities living outside your home country.

I also had the whole "nation-building" phase back when I was younger, but when I saw how deeply rooted the broken and corrupt practices are in this country, the pragmatist in me finds it as a lost cause and it's really just every man for himself.

I do my best to be a good citizen. I follow the laws, I pay my taxes, I do my job with honesty and integrity. Yet I've seen so many people who thrive on corruption, padrino system, and a general disregard for rules. Our culture of impunity feels so unfair.

I couldnt have said it any better than Jut. The corruption, politics and dynastic hegemony these political clans have over us is crushing.

Im doing my best to contribute to society here. But as for my kids...they are better off elsewhere.

Personally I am where I wanted.to be. Never liked to work at MM or other countries. But for my son, I will definitely advice him to consider working in a first class country.

The bobotante in our country really outweighs the good citizens who does their best to be an asset of society. I still hope that one day, the country will turn it around.

Kainis nga yang si Manuel Quezon kasi eh. Hehe
