^ Air when compressed may also act as refrigerant hence the not so cold air. Prolonged operation in the absence of freon and capillary oil could damage the compressor. Have it leak tested asap or replace with new. You could cut a piece of plywood to cover the open part and insulate with foam. By the looks, its a 2 to 1.5HP frame, same size still exist on Carrier line today. I suggest to get the semi-inverter 1.5HP model# WCARH012EEV or similar.

OMG! Good thing you told me this because I still turned on the AC, there's still a bit of cold left. I hope I did not damage the compressor.

Alam ko my AC is 1.0, maliit lang kasi room ko. I do not want to get an inverter because I only use AC during summer, so 2 months in a year lang. Hindi sulit

that's the design of our old aircon.

i also like carrier and its slightly cheaper local name, "condura".

when we replaced ours with a newer and slightly smaller version more than 10 years ago, there was an unfilled opening that a length of dos por cuatro (2 x 4 inch diameter) wood easily filled up.
it's still there after 10 years, and hasn't given cause for concern.

it would appear that today's modern aircons are a bit smaller than their earlier counterparts.
bite the bullet already and buy a new one. your aircon isn't gonna repair itself.
you're probably just delaying the inevitable and prolonging your discomfort.

lastly,
pa-tingin nyo muna sa repairman.
baka capacitor lang. if so, it can be replaced cheap, if the repairman is honest.

The Old ac before this carrier is even bigger, the brown fedders if anyone is old enough to remember LOL! They also had to stuff it with wood and foam, that is why I have the border to cover the tagpi. Paliit na ng paliit ang ACs now

Nasira na before ang capacitor and they had a hard time looking for replacement, hope they still have it

The 1.5hp inverters will be a near fit to your old one

1 hp lang room ko and I don't wanna buy inverter, too expensive and not sulit for me

someone strong enough will have to walk into your house and room, to yank out the old, and push in the new.
ask from the store, a worker who has tested negative for covid, to do your installation.
"dress him up well, with PPEs."

you can make your own filler material using household doodads, to close the openings around the now-smaller aircon.
a carpenter can do the more visually acceptable collar, after covid.
some aircons include an aesthetic rubber collar, already.

Ok naman yung after sales service ng Panasonic, Ms. Cathy.. Tested ko na.. kaya halos lahat ng appliances namin Panasonic nung nag-convert ako to Inverter Type.. Kaso nandito kasi sa Taytay yung isang main office nila.. Baka kaya maganda Customer Service dito..

Ang nag service na sa akin eh yun nag install din kunin mo na lang yun number ng mag install na accredited sa kanila usually meron naman sila ibibigay at least for split type. Para direkta ka na doon if you need anything fix.

Basing from the pic im guessing its rated>1HP, to be sure check the sticker besides the control module indicating the wattage and cooling capacity. Also verify the size of your room LxWxH and look at size chart like this Those old aircon last decades you could even replace every part with replacement(esp those with plastic chassis that doesn't rot), but theres always and end-of-life when the cost of maintaining and inconvenience will force you to realize it served you well for the past decades and letting go is more satisfying plus having a new aircon is more refreshing...

I asked the carrier guys what is the HP of my AC and they could not tell me Sa recollection ko 1.0. The last time it was repaired was last year pala! I posted here at the board the part they replaced but I can't find my post anymore. It cost me P650 only. I am looking at my old receipts, every year halos replace ako capacitor since 2015 :P Para sakin cost effective pa rin to keep my aircon bec even if it is repaired often, I spend less than P1000 and I only use my AC every summer, so okay lang kahit malakas sa kuryente. Ayoko din ma hassle sa tagpi tagpi na naman room ko

IF it requires me to change a part na mahal, that is when I will replace na lang. Basta payo nila sakin wag ako mag inverter :P

my personal cut-off is,
"after two repairs (one minor and one major, or two majors), or three minors, palitan na."

minor - simple leak.
major - motor, multiple leaks.
if capacitor, ad libitum.

That's an easy fix sana kung capacitor. kung thermostat naman yun tig 900 na honeywell. Kung compressor may tig 3-4k sa ronquillo, ihihinang nalang. Kung butas butas na ang evap/condenser coils dahil manipis na much better palit na nga. I bet tatagal pa yan kung alaga sa linis at di masyado ginamit. Ang init ngayon sa maynila, mahirap makatulog ng wla ac..sa prabins presko sana kaso malamok, need kulambo.

Can't install Easytrip RFID on a new gen Montero.

Easytrip personnel didn't want to install on the headlight since it's too small daw and the chrome areas will also affect the chance to be read by the RFID reader.

Ayaw din sa windshield coz it can-t be read din even naka 3M tint. I have to cut the tint to make way for the RFID, but still thinking about it [emoji1787]. But in the other cars, 3Ms are okay

Can't install Easytrip RFID on a new gen Montero.

Easytrip personnel didn't want to install on the headlight since it's too small daw and the chrome areas will also affect the chance to be read by the RFID reader.

Ayaw din sa windshield coz it can-t be read din even naka 3M tint. I have to cut the tint to make way for the RFID, but still thinking about it [emoji1787]. But in the other cars, 3Ms are okay
