Ba't ganun? Insured nga tsikot ko pero the insurance co called and telling me I have to pay an amount for the replacement parts(brand new) including the PF. Or pwede naman daw wala ako babayaran pero ung ipapalit nila eh surplus parts nalang daw. Ba't ganun!?

Thats depreciation kicking in. Since hindi na brand new oto mo and brand new na piyesa ipapalit may share ka dun sa charges.

After a car is 3 years old, they factor in depreciation for parts replaced. In the case of my insurance before, if i used a surplus part or a replacement, non-OEM part, they did not charge the depreciation to me.

Ok. So if I consider that surplus parts, di naman ba ako magkaka problema regarding used parts nalang siya instead of a brand new? D ba ito makaka apekto sa aking tsikot?

For vital parts (such as that in your suspension damage) you may want to go brand new unless you are really sure of the surplus assembly you can find (i.e. from a flooded, not accident damaged vehicle).

Looking at the damage, I think you will benefit more on a full rear suspension replacement. Ang likod na suspension ng Vios is trailing arm type, connected to an angled crossmember. From the looks of the photo, yung crossmember na yun nabaluktot. I maybe wrong on my assumptions though. But with a damage as big as this, IMHO, full suspension replacement dapat, and katay nalang your old suspension for still usable parts as spares.

Take into consideration too na baka yung body mismo ng kotse na mis-align din. The suspension is mounted sa body.

    Ano ba nakabangga sayo?

    Major ouch.

Palitan mo buong suspension boss (good surplus is okay). And pa-check mo body alignment. If the new suspension does not match body bolt holes, sa malamang gumalaw ang kaha ng kotse mo. Wag naman sana.

^ Personally, i would look for a surplus rear suspension assembly also... But yes, it is imperative to have a chassis alignment check. Check for possible damage to where the shock mounts are and where the suspension trailing arm and crossmember mounts.

Habang may kinukuha ako sa kaloob looban ng trunk kanina sa parking sa office this morning, biglang humangin ng malakas. Biglang sumara yung trunk at nadali yung likod ko. I can't imagine kung gaano kabigat yung trunk ko since may europlate, europlate frame at acrylic na plate cover. Buti na lang din at hindi ako sa ulo nadale. Hanggang ngayon masakit pa rin.

Ouch. Kalahati katawan mo nasa trunk na ba?

Grabe, ngayon ko lang nabuksan ang pictures that you posted. I can see clearly na yung trailing arm ay punit (sheared). Nasa likod ng spring yung punit. Hollow pala ang mga yan!

^is it possible that they designed the trailing arm or certain components to be the weaker points to prevent harder to repair chassis damage?
