By the way, a 1500 rpm is close to normal idle around +/- 1000rpm. So there is really no problem of having to step on the accelerator and break all at once. You can step on the accelerator or break pedals vice versa. No need to step both. The key is playing with your accelerator and maintain your rpm as possible. Be wary of your tachometer. not realy a pro but am just sharing what i've learned in the 4x4clinics and water fording situations from the 4x4gurus. Hope this helps.
