Sliding is far more reliable than swing, especially for wide spans.. Avoid bi-fold gates as much as possible as it eventually sags. Con for sliding is that it needs to be perfectly level at the track and debris need to be cleaned from the track once in a while.

Im doing a detail for a telescoping sliding gate now, its vastly more complex than a single panel sliding gate, also im concerned about the speed

Did the telescopic w/ covered side mounted cables & pulleys recently. Works like a charm. Just need to be precise w/ plans & execution to have vertical stiles aligned how you wish them.
The tracks, solid round rod would be smoothest...add along a self draining/cleaning mini trench(red arrow) to catch/drain water at the ends & out the driveway.
