i assume u mean browsing the net?
since naka network kayo, im sure there are programs installed in your PDC(primary domain controller) that allow you to manage network resources. explore ka lang dyan try to find it-im pretty sure theres a function there to restrict internet access. if not, you can download some network monitoring software from the web for free-im not just too familiar with the names

Di ba pwede naman i-disable ang mga browsers from the internet by limiting it thru your firewall? Sa pagkakaalam ko pwede ilagay sa restricted or blocked lahat ng browsers.

    tama ka sir ungas
kaso some networks dont have firewalls kasi e, they rely on the firewalls ng provider.
developer lang kasi ako kaya i dont know networks in depth rin :p

You can remove IE from the PC by hacking the registry. I search mo na lang sa google kung paano. But be warned. Pag may nagalaw ka na hindi dapat, you could seriously mess up your system.

Alam ko its under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SOFTWARE, Microsoft, IExx.

    Nakalimutan ko na....

Pero matrabaho ito kasi you have to this PC by PC.

hmm naka PROXY ba kayo? check mo yung Server na
nagbibigay ng Web Service sa Network nyo, since microsoft kayo,
I assume na MSPROXY ang gamit nyo

if MSPROXY madali na yan. you can select individual user
na gusto mo bigyan ng restriction like WWW,FTP,WINSOCK
alisin mo yung mga user na gusto mo sa WWW service para
    hindi sila maka surf...

    or

try to edit the Policy Editor..bigyan mo ng restriction sa IE..

imho, wala, tama si fafa ungas... network level (server side/firewall) ang blocking the Internet access.

kung naka dial-up lang kayo, tapos using an Internet sharing software (e.g. Winproxy, etc...) meron dun sa proxy server nyo (yung proxy xerver nyo is the computer which connects to the Internet via dial-up connection...)

try using wingate, install it in your Internet server. From there you can limit the users accessing the internet

crossback - naka dial up po ba kayo, and your just sharing your internet access to all PC's?... kasi kung ganun, you just have to disable the sharing for your internet connection to other PC...

kung nakanetwork naman kayo, meron kayong proxy server for your internet... you could disable all individual user accounts by means of USER MANAGER..

guys, this is how our LAN was set up:

DSL ang connection, we have a DSL router thats directly connected to a network switch which distributes the connections to the workstations.... MS proxy / Wingate... wala kami nun! Sa router naka set up yung Public IP, DNS, Gateway..etc., at the same time dun din nakaset yung Private IP (192.168.0.1)... All i can confiugure from the router is the general settings with respect to my connection with the DSL company... yung sa mga workstations, wala ata... i'm not sure.. please correct me i'f im wrong!

Yung mga workstations have their DEFAULT Gateway set to the IP of the router (192.168.0.1), thats how they get their INET connection!

gusto ko sana I try i modify yung registry pero, kakatakot, baka mag crash... tapos matrabaho pati... kasi per workstation ang trabaho....

baka meron pang mas better altenative....

    proxy server (????)

if you guys are using a router or a proxy server or a linux box, why not just block the IP address of the computers you don't want to have access to the internet? (or just set a few IP number you want to have access to the internet.)

Thats how I handle the internet connection at my computer shops since my shop is connected to other computer shops in the same building.

but sir ghosthunter, yung iba kasing tao namin medyo may alam narin ng kunti sa mga IP settings.....

Di kaya mag trial and error yung mga user, hanapin yung IP na pwede lumusot sa router?

    possible ba to?

I read your setup. It's very simple and easy to maintain but not very secure. I would suggest you set up a firewall (and proxy server as well), 1) to protect everyone inside from getting hacked (I'd assume your DSL is always on) and 2) to restrict access to the Internet. A regular PC will work. It's a good investment. I know of another company who lost all their data with the last worm that went around.

yup!! proxy server dapat ang galawin kasi siya yung nagfifilter out ng mga dapat i filter eh...

If you want i can send you a copy of the USER MANAGER.. effective yun... Di ba meron kayong kanya kanya username and password sa network niyo?... By using yung user manager na yun, lalabas dun automatic which servers are setup in your network.. Then per account you could modify it whether youll give then an access to internet or not... yun din yung same device na ginagamit once na halimbawa naglock out yung isang account and you need to unlock it... Or you want to create a new username for the network.. ganun po... mas madaling trabaho yun kasi yung proxy server lang ang gagalawin mo kesa mag PC to PC ka pa na configuration.... :D :D :D :D

hmmm...i assume your office is using private ips for the workstations, i.e. your office pcs are using 192.168.x.x/172.16.x.x/10.x.x.x? That means the switch or dsl router also has some NAT(network Address Translation) functions...check mo raw uli ung docs, baka meron ding firewall functions ung dsl router nyo

one of the simplest setups would be to connect the DSL line a pc with two LAN cards; the other LAN card is for your connection to your office LAN.
you can then install NAT/proxy/firewall sw there...bale yan na ung choke point mo -- pwede mo iblock web access, and just allow email access(via ports). You can even get fancy and even manage what kind of bandwidth each kind of traffic(web, email) can have

i haven't used it on a gateway pc yet, but you can try SyGate firewall...free po ung non pro version
