Civil service exam is the one you take to become a government employee.

PRC?hmm..well nung nag apply kami for board exams halos buong araw ata kami.

Nga lang sana medyo lumawak pa ang offices nila kasi, tuwing pupunta ako (every 3 years) e andaming mga nanggagaling pa from as far as Laoag.

    Just a thought..

Last May pa expired..

pasensya sa necro-bump .. ok pala ito tsikot.. all things under the sun ma discuss.
back to topic, i agree.. once ka lang mag board, why renew? added hassle, red tape and etc.
plus there are some professions which requires members to be part of an organization for renewal purposes (added fees na naman).
then there's this idea of CPE (continuing prof education?) , i dont know if its good or bad.

my license is expired and im currently non-practicing, pero i owe it to myself that i at least have a valid license after all those years of study. well its just me though.

now, with the thought of renewing , parang ang hassle2 pala. sana pwede nalang mabayaran, kung pwede. hehe..

me too. hehe. the question is, do you need to practice your profession? or may plano ka ba pa? ;)
siguro it might be easier for other professions who dont require a certification from accredited professional organizations / groups.

Have any of you renewed your PRC license lately? I tried to renew mine at SM Calamba but they said they were already offline since April.

AFAIK, if you don't renew for several years you'll be removed from the list of professionals and will have to take the board exam again.

I never renewed my EcE license because they had this point system where you have to be practicing your profession, attending seminars, teaching, etc. to be eligible to renew. Then I found out they scrapped that idea soon after. Never needed the license anyway. Looking back, I should've just gotten a job as soon as I got my diploma.

i see, no need to renew then if i'm required to take the board again

as you mentioned, never needed the license anyway. maybe if you plan to apply for work in the PI. but in overseas, it's seldom that they require whether you are licensed or not. other countries don't even honor it.

Same sentiments. Only renewed my ece licence once but after that, di ko na narenew ulit.
    Ridiculous points-money making scheme imo.

You can renew anytime. Just pay the corresponding penalty. I renewed mine after 20 years as it is now required by the board of accountancy.

One of my siblings has to accumulate some number/level of points before the renewal can be given....

I tried renewing my PRC license a few months ago, through the SM counters,- na-reject ako... wala raw silang makitang record.....

you have to check, sir. not all malls offer the service.

or, you can send someone to do it for you.
have your man go to prc, with your old ID and an authorization letter from you.
if the prc now requires their authorization form, then your messenger can get it there and hand it to you to fill out. then he goes back to prc. hey! he's a messenger! no big deal.

the point system is, i believe, to force the professional to be "up to date". it has its pros and cons. your professional society can make it easy for its members or not.

re-newing one's ID is really up to the professional, po.
you may or may not renew it, as scheduled. but be prepared to "suffer the consequences".

btw, the prc ID is a "government-issued ID", should you need one. just like the driver's license and the passport.

    good luck, po.
