the_wildthing, if that's the case then I guess the smell is due to the environment.

:hihihi:

si teejay, freight forwarder tanong natin sa kanya kung may spray nga talaga. tatanong ko din sa bilas ko who works for a freight forwarding company.

put some of your clothes in there...

    close the box, say, overnight...
I do this too. I place imported soap on my clothes drawer. It makes my clothes smell good or amoy US Somehow local Dove doesn't smell as good as imported Dove.

A similar imported scent can be detected from objects kept in extended periods of time from large data centers with controlled humidity and temperature. Hindi basta basta air conditioned room kundi yung me humidity controller na room. Also airplanes (so the compressed air theory may hold on this) that travel for many hours smell similarly.

OT:when we travel abroad we have the notion that we smell ok but in reality the food we eat and the environment we come from brings about a distinct smell from us. Smell like fish is the best description.

    Hi,

I know exactly the smell you are referring to kasi naaamoy ko din yan sa luggages and balikbayan box tuwing umuuwi ang relatives ko from Cali way back when I was a child.

Anyone noticed that? The smell sticks to the clothes - amoy states!

So what really causes that distinct smell?

P.S Now I live in Toronto but I couldn't smell that distinct smell here but to my surprise when I travelled to New Jersey, I can smell that sa basement and some of the closets. This makes me wondering nasa US territory naman ang Toronto pero bakit hindi ko maamoy yung distinct smell na yun dito??

Pero now nakakadalawang-isip. Parang nasterilized ng something.

Sa europe, japan, china naamoy nyo ba yan? Katangi-tangi sa america lang. Baka ano chemical yan.

Napanuod nyo ba sa news kanina about sa nfa rice. Puro bukbuk tapos ifufumigate !!!! And aatayin ilan days para daw mawala amoy ng fumigation and itetest kung safe for consumption. Imagine parang binaygon yan tapos ibebenta pa. Kaya may mga bigas na may amoy. Mukhang dahil jan.

So tama pala ginagawa ko arte-arte pag bili bigas.
