He he, I wonder what the tourism sector has to say on this.

Oks sa mga parents ito kase less worries para sa kids nila. Bad trip sa mga kids kase ang inasam-asam nilang out-of-town vacation i.e. uwi sa probinsya during breaks for R&R, fiestas, etc. eh mawawala.

Summertime is usually the season where kids have no school, fiestas abound and the safest time to travel kase walang bagyo. Therefore, it is an ideal time for familes to go on vacation, go on a road-trip somewhere with the kids gamin ang bagong van, visit relatives and friends sa probinsya, etc. So kung gagawing summertime eh may pasok, mawawala yung mga inasam-asam na bonding moments through vacation.

Sa mga mahilig bumyahe dyan pag walang pasok ang kids, I've a question for you: let's say rainy season ang bakasyon ng mga bata tapos nagbabagyo. Would you risk na bumyahe kayo on a road trip, airplane trip or even a nice cruise sa mga local ocean liners natin?

I'm not against this law. As a parent who is constantly worrying about my only child pag pumapasok tas may bagyo, aba'y welcome sa 'kin ito. However, mawawala yung summertime trips namin mag-anak na are so precious for us kase marami kaming mawawala na bonding moments while on the road or while on a trip.

Here's my stand: if it passes, it passes. If not, then it does not. Chicken and egg situation ito. Parehong may benefits, parehong may trade-offs. Now, kung ano ang benefits at trade-offs sa inyo, depende na yan sa mga values, beliefs at principles nyo na, IMO, walang mali at walang tama kase hinde naman tayo pare-pareho.

    My two cents.

negative ako dito.. I wouldn't want to rob the youth of experiencing a great summer. di naman lahat sa school matutunan. pano na lang ang outdoor activities during summer like basketball (liga), biking, swimming.

Pag rainy season, puro tv, video games, internet lang lalong ang aatupagin ng mga kabataan, this would equate to more obesity..

sa other countries din naman nagkakaron ng deep snow, blizzard pero hindi naman nila pinapalitan ang school year nila.

IMO, kids today need to experience this because it will make them stronger, pag matanda ka na umulan umaraw papasok ka. kung sa call center / medical field ka pa, walang weather-weather..

Hindi rin ako pabor. Summer lang may magandang panahon para magbakasyon ang mga bata ipagkakait pa.

Not only will you have to change the elementary school calendar but also the high school and college academic calendars as well. How will they accomplish this? One year walang pasok to adjust?

I was also thinking about the summer vacation part. Tie that with tourism issues as well as the practical side of changing the whole system and you get a huge problem.

While it can be dangerous to wade the floods during heavy rains, one has to teach their children to stay safe too. Elementary and high school students can be brought home by school busses (pati na rin siguro college? hehe). The college students usually have a dorm or apartment near school and can commute if they find it too risky to walk. Or they can just stay in school and let the flood subside.

When it's raining hard and I had to walk home sa apartment near UST, I brought with me a large umbrella both for the rain and/or using it as a walking stick to make sure there was solid ground in front of me when I waded in knee deep water. It is definitely also advisable to teach your kids to go in groups when going home, rain or shine.
