    $1.4M Pa-pogi Points!

    ================================================== =======

Whew! :arghhh:

sorry, but i'm not familiar with the story - did the philippine government pay ransom again for a kidnapped citizen? what is this, the second well-publicized time this has happened?

fair game na tayo mga kapatid - kidnap a pinoy, get a million bucks. especially you guys who travel to the ME. no other government does this

If the $1.4M ransom is true, then it's setting a bad precedent. Pinoy OFWs in the Middle East(not just in Iraq) will be the target of every criminal over there. Imagine $1M per captive, which criminal won't be tempted?

Obviously, you are not aware that ransom was also "suspected" to have been paid by Bulgaria and Italy to recover their kidnapped citizens in Iraq.

NO GOVERNMENT IN ITS RIGHT MIND WILL DECLARE PUBLICLY THAT IT HAS PAID RANSOM TO TERRORISTS.

Mga chismosa lang ang nag-de-declare nito publicly sa media to create a controversy para may mapag-usapan pampatay-oras.

Pinatay nila co-worker ko dahil alam nila na hindi magbabayad ang US or my company para sa ransom to be delivered in 48hours.

well, the timing is really suspicious. pero at least it saved the life of a pinoy.
and everything else is just a figment of imagination gone wild or hearsay.

well, thanks for the info, but what i was really wondering was whether the ransom was actually paid or not, not if the government was admitting that they paid anything. there are conflicting reports on the web, and i can't tell what sources are credible or not.

i cannot help but wonder why we suddenly released after 8 months. did the kidnappers suddenly give up? the last time we heard this kind of thing happen, the philippines did pay a ransom - it was in the form of troop withdrawals and not cash, but a ransom nonetheless.

so past history considered, you have to wonder whether there's any truth to these so-called chismis

Obviously, you are really researching this chismis because you want to connect the dots that Arroyo paid the ransom as a publicity stunt just to polish her image and divert people's attention away from the wiretap scandal.

We all know as intelligent "thinking" pinoys that Tarongoy's release (whether ransom was paid or not) does not have any effect on Arroyo's wiretap scandal. Only gullible people will start professing that Arroyo did not cheat in the last elections because she paid the ransom for Tarongoy's release.

Because the logic in such a case is so stupid and irrelevant, it's not really worth the time to find out if this chismis is true or not.

    waste of tax payer's money.

its his choice kung pumunta siya sa Iraq. he very well knew the risk that he had to take when he went there.

Maraming paglalaanan...

    Opinion lang po. Peace tayo.

you are absolutely wrong. you are assuming things about me and you are making an ass out of yourself. i could care less about Gloria's image or her wiretap scandal, other than for pure comedy value. i'm not a subject of the Philippine government and i have no vote as to who should be president of the Philippines.

i made the comment because i travel to Asia a lot and though i am from the US, i am obviously Pinoy - i would hate to be in Pakistan or someplace like that and be a target for people who have some kind of agenda because they know they can exert control over the Philippine government.

i thought that would be obvious because of my comment about being "fair game", but obviously (you like this word a lot, don't you?) you made up your mind about me before you got to the second sentence of my post. congratulations. and thank you for implying that i am non-intelligent and non-thinking....i wonder whose logic is stupid now?

anyway, the damage was already done with Angelo dela Cruz. everyone knows now exactly how to influence Philippine foreign policy.
