people (especially mercedes benz diesel enthusiasts), can you please shed light on the performance of MB D series (200D, 240D, 300D, and the 300SD) all posessing w123 bodies. they say that this body is "the benz of all benzs."

reliable pa ba itong klaseng mga benzs (if i'm not mistaken (1979-1985 ito)? ilang km/L of fuel ang kaya kainin ng respective series? what pointers should one consider when acquiring one?

there are so many questions--but let's start from the above. your replies will be highly appreciated. :D

First of all... very sturdy ang 123 body.. especially if it is in pristine condition

200D - 2.0L inline-4 hmm.. 55HP lang ata. very economical... simple engine layout, easy to maintain. SLOW. it is a city car.... some people say it cant go up a steep parking ramp... siguro kailangan ng tyempo lang.

240D - 2.4L inline-4; 67HP, same as 200D but with better power.

300D - 3.0L inline-5 80-88HP, better overall power

300D-T - 3.0L inline-5 TURBO, 120HP great power. great mileage..increase the boost.. you'd get a powerful car.

gas mileage greatly depends on driving habits.. but expect around 8-10km/l... siguro yung 200D might hit 12km/l... .

pointers when acquiring one... check for rusts sa wheel well, underbelly, check for leaks on the engine, the usual stuff you check when buying a second hand car... bring a mechanic with you if you are not sure... then lastly... test drive it.

kamusta ang ilalim ng 123?.. ayun.. bakal.. eheheh.. ano gusto nyo sir malaman tungkol sa ilalim ng 123?..

parts?.. hmm.. kung san san kasi ang mura.. one time mura sa isang shop.. the next part mas mahal sya... usually..we canvass around to get the best price.. and if the shop is nearby.. dun kami bumibili...

I have the production book ng Mercedes from the start until 1995 ata. Nandun lahat ng models pati specs at details.

I used to drive a 300D (4 speed M/T). Nilagyan ko ng "turbo diesel" badge sa likod for additional power (hehehe).

Usually sa RBL kami kumukuha at nagpapakabit na din. Hindi naman siguro cheapest doon. Cheaper than others lang and kabisado na nila ang Benz talaga.

hmm.. suspension... different characteristics as different owners tend to put different shocks.

The suspension ranges from soft to harsh... depending on what type of shocks they put on.. to get the typical soft MB ride.. get teh Bilstein Comfort shocks.. or the softer one... some owners put in Bilstein Heavy duty shocks and this tends to put the ride to a stiffer, harsher yet more controlled ride.
