My guess would be possible gas or food poisoning.

The German shepherd (found in a kennel) could've died from starvation as it seems that the couple have been deceased "for a time", based on the reported level of decomposition.

Two other dogs were found to be alive and in good health; one inside the house and the other outside. But it's also possible that one of the living dogs could've entered the house after the fact.
