now the gray part and "sport" seat. i finally did the gray wood trim to cover the aluminum marks and scratches esp on the shifter area. a little reference on before and after:

    closer shot:

the middle section is a little hard to install due to lining up a lot of holes for the shifter and the buttons. the tray pieces needed a little gap otherwise it wont open with the trim installed. i like it overall. the interior looks a little updated. the only thing was that i requested a replacement on the middle section trim since it was off.

last, i can finally claim my ride has recaro seat :

next, i might finally do engine detailing.

    here's the corrected recaro pic:

also, here's the last pic with stock springs. taken somewhere in south pasadena hills:

still have to do engine detailing.

kittie is nearly 6 years old. some not so good but minor things: cracking valve stems

a few weeks ago the fx lost air on one of the tires and found out that the valve stem went bad. last weekend, wife and i were running errands and realized another tire lost air, again turns out to be cracked valve stem. this time, since i drove it enough not realizing the problem, the tire was damaged. my tire shop checked the rest of the valves and found one more cracked and replaced all as a result. i also end up with 2 replacement ventus. i suggested 22s to wife and was ignored .

i did a little research online and found out that around 2006 there was a recall/bulletin regarding valve stems from dill acp and tech international. sure enough, the valve stems i had when i got new tires were from dill. the good thing is that there is a claim process so i may get reimbursed for the tire damage.

in case any u.s. tsikoteers here got tires around 06 or 07 and lost air due to valve stems like my experience, have all the valves checked at least (or physically check for cracks) and get them replaced if it is from one of the manufacturers i typed above.

my fx turned 6 years last sept. 28. bye bye warranty.

waiting for reimbursement for the valve issue.
lowering springs settled in. should have done this years ago.
after two new tires, did alignment and front balance, now rides perfect.

    looking into +2 or 22s .

You didn't get the extended warranty? How many miles on it now?

got a little over 53k miles. i skipped the ext warranty, but got a quote few days ago for about $1400 for 2 yrs with a $100 deductible. i might gamble this one. premium only and close watch on maintenance since last year. the only thing that happened recently was the actuator that nearly cost me about $500 parts and labor. in 2 years i can have up to 3 repairs at about $500 each and be ok without the ext warranty. the last multi point inspections with my new dealer indicates that everything is ok.

If I had known I was moving here I would have skipped the extended warranty myself since it's useless here. If I need anything done I would need to pay and file a claim with them to get my money back because Guam falls under Nissan International not Nissan USA. The only reason I bought it was because of all the electronics on the truck and I am no good with that part. Now my truck needs a new tensioner pulley and I will just do the replacement myself and forget about the warranty since it only cost $37 and I can do the labor myself. The good part is I am learning about where all the parts are and how to replace them using the tech manual.

BTW I like those inserts you put in the console and they sure match up real nice with your interior. I did the opposite with my truck since I went with the brush aluminium look. How much did those cost you and where did you get them from?

looks like we are skipping the extended warranty.

the inserts or the "wood" trim are from ebay just like the ones on our sentra. i think it was a little over $100 and there are many options. there are real wood kits available but usually starts around $300. i only did this mainly to cover the scratches on the brushed aluminum and also the bare plastics on the door. its good for the price though the fitting can be slightly off. just search for dash kit and you'll see them.

Thanks gotta check ebay for those inserts then since I bought mine someplace else online and it cost more than that. The wife wants brushed aluminium on the Magnum but I think the one you put in the FX would look good in it.

just got these dirt cheap and will need some redrilling and painting.
im trying to keep the "black" theme of my ride.

i already got my near final idea, but any feedback welcome. bear with my
    gimping skills .

    here's the original polished/gunmetal:

one option, all polished to black or color match:

another option, polished/gunmetal with black or color match lip:

also thinking of introducing dark blue somewhere.

here's my recent ride pic for reference. she just turned 7 years old last month:

after this is done, next is tires, the widest it can have without rubbing.

Prefer the same color combo as on your current wheels... black inner, silver lip.

Black outer, silver inner would make the mags look smaller.

All black would just fade into the car.

    But that's just me.

    thanks for the feedback.

funny though, both were my initial ideas even before buying the wheels. im starting to like the lips black since it is also less common and to be different with my current setup.

also, the spokes are reflected by the lip regardless of finish so it wont look small. also, at size 22, i dont think it can look smaller.

it is just a matter of free time to bring it to a shop for redrill and possible paint at the same time. im also discussing it with my tire shop if 285/35/22 will fit without rubbing. if not 265/40/22 will be the other option.

285 is crazy wide. You'll need to add a supercharger to match that much grip.

    Just a suggestion.

thanks for the economical suggestion . i wish they can do a closeout on these like the wheels, then i may consider it.

im checking infinitiscene fx site and some are running 305s with fenders rolled. looks like the 285 will fit. we also have a socal tsikoteer here known for fender rolling on g/z forums . 265 will be the last option since i think it looks skinny for this size.

Mhmmm... 305s... Back at the X6 launch, they had a display car on 315s, I think. Pretty tasty width.

i guess i love wide tires. my tire shop suggested somewhat of a staggered setup, 265/40 front, 285/35 rear just to avoid rubbing. we see the fx the same way, the rear section is bulging making wider tires ideal.

i called a few wheel shops and redrilling costs and time frame are all over the place. i narrowed it down to the ones who gave me a straight answer on how it can be done.

almost final on the painting. glossy black lip only (previously posted) or satin black spokes + glossy black lip?
